My roommate and I moved here in August from other parts of the country. Since we were both quite far away we found the complex online and made all the arrangements that way. From the picture online it looked VERY nice and the rent seemed right. (I'm from back east and $790 for a 2-bedroom'! Wow! Try $1200 minimum for most places! I was saving a bundle!) Well, even when we moved in we still thought it was great, since we had nothing really to compare it to. Sure, we had to walk down to a laundry room to do laundry and there is no fitness center or hot tub, but I had considered W/D in the apartment and a fitness center and a jacuzzi to be a luxury! I didn't expect it, but have come to learn that you should expect it when you live here, as EVERYWHERE else has it! So we were basically paying too much by local standards for a substandard apartment. Also, I thought that I should live near campus--I wanted to be able to walk if I wanted. Well, being that it is too damn hot to walk and too uncomfortable to carry all my books and my laptop if I walk, I drive anyway, so it really doesn't matter if I am 1/2 a mile from campus or 3 miles from campus. In fact, being 1/2 a mile from campus has been a detriment to my quality of life since all the damn undergrads constantly run around screaming and yelling and have parties on weeknights! I have no problem with parties on the weekend, but quite frankly, I want to study and get to bed at a reasonable hour when I have class at 9 am the next morning (or an 8:30 am exam!). Do NOT live here unless you are an undergrad. In fact, don't even live here if you are an undergrad, if you want good service and the ability to sleep. But if you want to be loud and obnoxious and drunk all the time, PLEASE live here so I won't have to deal with you where I move to! Oh, as for service, the management is HORRIBLE! Even for emergencies the turnaround is between 48 and 108 hours--EMERGENCIES! Don't even bother making a "minor" complaint--they *might* get to it 3 or 4 months later. I thought with the new management things would get better, but nope. The woman sits in her office all day and smokes (I went in this morning to pay my rent and couldn't breathe for the next hour afterwards) and doesn't make sure things get done. There is only one handy man, and he is only here 2 days a week--hardly acceptable! In short, get a better value for your money and live somewhere else.
