Almost worth breaking the lease to move out.

I moved in because of the location (super close to ASU) and the rent (not bad because of included utilities). I loved it at first, because anything's better than living at home with your parents, but things really got bad. I moved my things in on a Friday and when I decided to take a nice, hot shower that night I realized that my knob in the shower was cracked making it impossible to turn it on. And since the office is not open on the weekends, I had to go the whole weekend without a shower. They fixed it promptly Monday morning.

About a month later my sink clogged (and since I lived in a Studio I had only one for bathroom and kitchen use). I made a complaint and went to work with the promise that it would be fixed by the time I got home that night. Again, this happened on a Friday. I got home that night to see that it had been worked on, but the job was not completed. My sink was filled with a green, chemical that burned your skin if not washed immediately. Not only was it filling my sink, but it was also leaking from the ceiling and all over my tiny kitchen (right near food). I called the Emergency "Hotline" (which is actually a pager) and I never got a response. I again had to wait until Monday.

The complex itself is nice and fairly well maintained (with the exception of the parking lot- always lots of broken glass- and the back elevator which is always broken), but in a really horrible neighborhood. Lots of harrassment from homeless people and my bike tire got stolen.

The utilities are fine except the fact that you can't control the temperature of your room, so even though it's January, Tempe can get into the high 70's. And the heat will be on through February at least.

I wouldn't personally recommend it, but it's not THAT horrible. The management is really fast to repair things (but only during the week). Just put a lot of thought into renting at Campus Pointe- spend a couple of hours there. I didn't realize that nearly all the residents are foreign and in their thirties- I was looking forward to some college kids my own age. Also, if you rent a studio, don't get the "E" room since the "security door" opens to block your own door making move-in difficult. Also request a room on the first or second floor unless you don't mind moving your furniture up the stairs.
