More Cons Than Pros

I have lived in Desert Palm Village for a year and a half now. This is not because I wanted to, but I just don't want to deal with the hassle of moving to another apartment, I'll wait until I can afford a house.
Pros:
- They had the clubhouse entirely renovated recently and the crappy exercise room with the broken treadmill and other broken equipment is gone. They have very nice equipment like all new weight machines, treadmills, bikes, elliptical, they have little plasmas to watch (not that I do), pool tables, table tennis, a spa, nice bathrooms w/ saunas (though the saunas are kind of crappy).
- The apartment is decently spacious and has ample closet room. The balcony is nice too. It's comfortable enough to live in.
Cons:
- I wouldn't say the managers are VERY rude, but I would say they can be slightly rude at times. They are very incompetent. I was told I didn't pay rent and was going to be evicted when I did, I was told my lease was expiring before it was, I asked them to renew my lease and I was told I'd receive a call and instead I received a letter weeks later talking about my lease expiring as if they had no idea I asked to renew it, they like to close the office when it's supposed to be open and I need to pay rent. Also, when I wanted to renew my lease they raised my rent and they didn't offer me anything or even sound very thankful. Sometimes they like to rush you and not really let you talk and most of the time they seem very absorbed in their own lives.
- Shortly after I first moved into the apartment my air conditioning went out and it was the middle of the summer. They took a few days to fix it, which was torture, so I had to evacuate to my parents' house. Later on when I mentioned it in the office a girl there said they sound have temporarily let me stay in another apartment. GEE, thanks for letting me know now! The a/c went out again a little over a year later and we had to have maintenence guys come more than once because the first time they just claimed it was the filter. The ancient thermostat must've been too difficult to deal with because we came home one day finding a nice new one... they entered without permission. Also, my friend who lived in my apartment before me led me to believe that there was something seriously wrong in the apartment (I wont get specific to remain anonymous) and when I asked in the office about it the girl sounded very mean and said that I should have mentioned it in the walk-through (which they never had me do!) and basically anything that was wrong with it would be my problem unless I took actions against my friend. They couldn't contact her themselves for some reason, and they didn't correct the wrong in not doing a walk-through. This lady knew I had never rented an apartment before and she sounded SO much nicer when I signed the lease. Turns out I was able to fix the problem myself luckily. They didn't even try to make sure that the apartment was in decent shape before I moved in though just because I was taking over the lease.
- Getting any packages delivered is a pain because they don't notify you when they come in most of the time and you just need to keep asking them in the office. I get all of my packages delivered to my parents' house now since they live close-by to avoid this pain.
- The dishwasher in my apartment is ancient and I have to wash all of my dishes by hand. I asked the managers to replace it but they just tred to fix it when it really needs to be replaced. The maintenence guy came 15 min before the latest time he was supposed to come and by then I had just left. The paint of the bathtub walls is peeling. The walls/front door are so thin, my downstairs neighbors are always annoyingly pounding at me (not blasting music or anything, just trying to live) and I can hear EVERYTHING that goes on outside of my front door (and everyone outside can hear inside). It's true that the electric bill is really high, as the other reviews state. I never had an apartment before this one, so I thought it was normal until I read those. The laundry rooms suck because the washing machines and dryers are usually broken and the dryers are always broken. Other tenants get impatient and put your laundry on top of the machine so they can do theirs.
- They obviously don't look very hard regarding cleanliness when re-renting an apartment out because I happened to move my refrigerator to locate the source of an ant problem and found the floor underneath and the wall behind entirely covered in black sludge. I really wish I had taken a picture before cleaning it.
- They don't bother to put your parking spot near your apartment and tenants have a habit of parking in the uncovered areas because of that, leaving less parking available for visitors.
Neutral:
- For probably about half a year they did renovations on the office and temporarily moved their office to an apartment. This was slightly inconvenient, especially for getting mail, but I managed. I can't really say for sure whether it was their fault or the construction company's.
- Taking groceries home sucks because the stairs don't lead to the parking lot and you have to go all the way around, but it at least this could make things a bit safer in terms of theft. I haven't had any huge security problems as of yet... My liscence plate was stolen from my car. It seems like someone could have been trying to break into my car's trunk, especially since the electric lock mysteriously broke, but I'm not 100% sure.
