First things first: this apartment was not terrible when I moved in. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse under new management.

Exterior appearance: The best part of this complex. They just repainted (rather than spend the money on repairs inside the apartments), and the maintenance guys keep the complex in fairly good condition. Gate is broken often.

Interior appearance: The insides of these apartments are horrible. The shelf in my fridge broke the first day, my ceiling fans were broken when I moved in (and replaced with louder, inferior models), I couldn't get all the burners on my oven to work, the dishwasher broke, the faucet broke, the air conditioner broke and there is mold. You can smell it. I've had other residents bring it up to me so I know it's not my fault. The quality of the carpet and cabinets is also low.

Common amenities: Laundry room needs a card that has to be filled in the office, so if they are closed, you're out of luck (I think some apartments have separate washer/dryer). I've never heard of the underwear thefts in other reviews, but the laundry room is not very secure. They have also stopped using A/C in there, so you can't watch your clothes comfortably. The pools are adequate, and the complex did waste a lot of money renovating the pool areas. Outdoor grills are usually clean.

Security: Gate is broken, a lot. My friend's van was stolen, and my car has been broken into. One gate was broken for over a month. There were also inexplicable holes in the wall around the complex like someone drove a semi-truck into them. You do get a second dead bolt that cannot be unlocked from the outside.

Maintenance: Would be better if they fixed the gate. The guys try, but you can tell they are constrained fiscally by management. Replacement appliances are inferior. They have stopped sending regular pest control inside apartments, and bugs WILL get in through the gap in doors and windows. I called three times to report a broken sprinkler spraying directly at my window (would have gone into apartment if open), and no one ever came or called back. We reported mold in our shower and specifically asked that it not just be painted over. They came by and painted over it... Apparently, mold is prevalent there.

Other thoughts: Walls are paper thin. I can hear people stomping around (and more) on a regular basis. They are also horrid insulators. My electric bill was almost $200 in the summer for a two-bedroom apartment. The rent is constantly going up, up, up to cover the cost of the exterior remodeling facade to get more residents. If you get a deal when you move in, expect it to be fleeting. I do not trust the new management. They tried to tell me I didn't complain about something that needed fixing when I was negotiating the overly large rent increase, but when I pressed them, they told me they no longer had the records from under the old management. I wonder what else they lie about.

Pros: Close to ASU. Maintenance crew was nice, and I didn't feel wary having them in my home.

Very nicely written. Emotionless and concise. However, I feel I have to include that I have had almost none of those issues. My apartment has always been in excellent interior condition, and I haven't had a direct problem with the new management; probably because Rebecca has come back (for now). So while it was a well-written synopsis, a lot of the listed issues are on a per-person basis, and I'm sure that such misfortune exists in every apartment complex. I'm sorry you haven't had as good a time here as I have and am still having. Good luck for the next place you move in. :-)

I completely agree that Rebecca is great, but she wasn't at all who I was referring to. Hopefully, she can turn things back around (I'm still wondering why she was gone for a while, then came back). Next place won't be an apartment, so the luck will be mine to make.
