Good and Bad

I have mixed feelings about this place. I lived there for 3 years and never once had a problem with crime or vandalism. However, everyone around me seemed to have problems. The lady in the apartment below me had some homeless guy throw a rock through her window and come into her bedroom. Another person had his car stolen 3 (yes three!!!) times from his parking spot which was 5 spots down from me. Perhaps I was not a victim because I am very cautious and always watch my back. I used "The Club" on my car and did have an alarm as well. I also had a second story apartment...that helps deter "smash and grab" punks.

The staff was usually very friendly. My only real complaint was with the maintenance guy. This moron couldn't fix a thing! I eventually decided calling the office to ask for a repair was pointless...I started doing repairs myself.

I'm surprised to hear of problems with bugs. The staff offers a free spraying service every other Thursday. I never took advantage of this service while I lived there so no one sprayed my place for 3 years. Yet I don't think I ever saw a single bug.

The walls are very thin and you can hear your fellow residents even if you don't want to. I actually had the cops show up at my apartment and question me about a domestic dispute. Apparently my neighbor heard me yelling. I was actually yelling at the TV...my Suns were playing. Ha Ha. The place is definitely not quiet. Cars, students, parties, idiots, but you get used to it...at least I did.

At checkout time they hit me up for a dirty shower and carpet patch. It was $20 for the shower and $15 for the carpet patch. I deserved both so I can't complain. However, they ended up waiving both fees as the finance manager told me the maintenance guy did not deliver his report on my apartment and therefore he could not charge me. It looks like the maintenance guy's lack of competence worked in my favor on the way out.

For $700 a month, I think it is a decent value. If you are going to school at ASU it is not a bad place to live. Much cheaper then San Marbaya but not quite as fun. I'd look around, but definitely consider Galleria Palms.

If your looking for a safer area try stuff in 85283 or maybe even 85284 if you want to commute a bit more.
