Okay so here sums up our year at Garden Grove Apartments.
1. they say they have security that watches the parking areas.... Yeah we parked in front of the apartment complex as that is where our unit was, my husbands car was hit in the parking lot in the night, security didnt notice. Nor did they say anyhtign when there was a crowd of people out front calming my husband after his car was hit. He has a nice car. They wouldnt do anyhtign about it. Many nights we had drunk accost us while we were sitting on our patio, and when leaving our apartment a few times we had drunk people approach us to use the phone. We also had someone runnig around out front fo the complex with a bottle that was broken and he was trying stab people with it. Our roommate slept with a shotgun that night in the living room trying to protect us.....
2. They loose packages. A gift was sent to the apartment complex for us, a lady in the office signed for it... After finding out we were supposed to be recieving a 130 dollar knife set as a gift for our wedding and never seeing it, we calle dUPs to find the apartment staff had signed for it. We went to the dtaff and they stated oh we dont count the packages when they come in, we just sign for them and assume they are there. This has happened before and it turns up at the other complex down the street.... Ours never turned up....
3. Maintnance- Our hot water heater.... That was almost a never ending battle, it would go out every week leaving us and our roommate to cold showers every day.. They knew it needed replaced but they refused to do it, they did everythign but replace it until it finnaly leaked everywhere...
4. DO NOT GET A BOND FOR THE CLEANING AND REPAIRS AFTER YOU MOVE OUT!!!! they tell you it covers everything... WE got a bill from the apartment about our toilets being dirty when we moved out (we hadnt been there in 3 months as we bought a hosue).. They charged us for the toilets being dirty and having to clean them, that came out to 126 bucks!!!! That was all the charged us for, when we asked abotu the bond that they assured us twoudl cover it, they todl us that no that was a bond they bought incase we didnt pay, that on top of that we would have to pay what ever fees plus 40 percent!
5. Their AC units.... It leaked ocnstantly on our kitchen floor... We have people fall in it several times.
6. The Staff.. They are horrible!!! They are the worst apartment staff I have ever dealt with! They loose things, they lied to us about several things, they lost money, they had horrible attitudes, they lied to us about several things, they were not accomadating in the slightest. They had poor communication skills and were rude to us when we had to deal with them. They were very slow about fixing things as well.
8. Condition of the unit... It had leaky faucets in the kitchen.. Our bathroom toilet leaked for the first 9 months that we lived there (we told them abotu the problem once a week and they always told us we were hearing things... Nope they were wrong they didnt want to replace a seal in the toilet.) The carpet was gross, hte kitchen cabinets were not that great, the walls are very very thin, the ceiling, we were able to hear averythign that the upstairs people were doing (it kep us up many nights), the sink in the kitchen made a horrible noise when turned on, the garbage disposal sucked, the stoves are crappy, the fridge is way small, When maintnance cleans outside and you have a patio they blow crap onto your patio, the pool was generaly pretty dirty and hot, Mailbox keys fit into other mailboxes (ours was taken and my husband accidentaly opened someone elses one day as well).
9. WATER- we were charged a water bill for the 3 months that we were not at the apartment. We moved out but continued to pay our rent as well as our house paymens aw we found a house and bought it. IT was cheaper to pay our rent then to worry abotu brekaing our lease. We didnt live there for 3 months and they are sending us to collections over a water bill that they state is building usage, so when you rent there, you pay for everyones water, even fi you dont us ea drop!!! did they tell us this when we moved in'!'! NO!!!
10. They advertise free covered parking but if you live in the front of the building yeah it is a hike to get to any covered parking. Also there is a limit to how many care you can have parked in the covered parking area; its one per unit!
The work out area is probably the only good part about this place. If you want to deal with rude people and bad attitudes then this is the place for you! Their acounting lady is a real piece of work...... Dont ever let her sign for packages or add things up becuase she cant count apparently...
