Avoid even applying!

I sent in a rental application to this place and they originally told me that I would get a 2 bed / 2 bath apartment for $750 per month. They still continue to advertise $750 per month on craigslist but this is just to lure you in. They told me that I should send in a deposit of $178 (never saying anything about it being non-refundable). They claim to have a dog park and laundry in the apartments. WRONG! "They're in construction" and from the sound of these other reviews, doesn't seem like it will ever be there.

They advertise renovated apartments but they don't tell you that the $750 is for a crappier version until after you submit the app. Then they will tell you that they don't actually have any for $750 but they will have something for $850. When I found out they don't even have everything that they are advertising at their place and that they weren't going to give me the original deal that I had put money down on, I put a stop payment on the check.

After I decided not to go with the place, they said that I owed over $200 in non-refundable administrative fees and said if I didn't pay they would send me to collections.After I asked them for proof that I agreed to pay that money, they avoided the question altogether and just threatened me with collections and bad credit (which means they didn't have any proof).

Sound like a good business to you' Check out the nice response they gave me down below.... you should know that there was nothing on the document I signed that said anything about a $178 dollar non-refundable administrative fee. I read it over many times. I am so glad I got out of this when I did. If collections does call, they will have nothing to back their claim that I owe this money.

FYI, your account has been sent to collection. It may take time to process. Be patient, you will hear from them. Next time, why don't you try reading before sigining.

FYI, I filed a complaint with the BBB and got the collection canceled because is was not legitimate. Yey for BBB... boo for Haven!
