I had high expectations for my new apartment due to the amazing sales presentation and the immaculately maintained grounds. Unfortunately, these expectations were dashed when I moved in. The apartment was a disaster as my kitchen sink and my bath tub faucet both needed replaced. Furthermore, the carpet was a wreck (it still is) and there is paint in lots of places where paint doesn't belong (carpet, bath tub, light switches and outlets). My toilet was leaking as well. Because I moved in on the Friday morning prior to a holiday weekend, I was made to wait until the following week to have my issues resolved. The manager's excuse was that my apartment was not ready because they had a lot of move-ins that week. I figured that by paying my move-in fees I could expect my apartment to be ready for move-in!

Since then I have had several issues with maintenance, which is a reflection on the management/ownership more than anything. The pipes under my bathroom sink leak. I called to have it fixed and it wasn't done properly. I called a second time and it started leaking yet again! Now I just keep a pot under the sink.

The storage doors on my patio are warped. New ones have been "on order" since I moved in (about 9 months ago!)

I do not think my expectations are too high. I am paying a premium price because this complex markets itself as having "luxury apartments", so I expect better than average service. Instead, routine maintenance is regularly backed up for weeks, and they don't even fix things right the first time out.

The attitude of Lakeview at the Bay is to sign as many new leases as possible rather than trying to keep existing tennants happy. Note that if you consider this complex how well-staffed and helpful the sales office is. It is only after you move in that you learn Lakeview does not have a positive attitude towards its customers.

I feel as though I got a bad deal by signing a 12 month lease at Lakeview. I look forward to moving on when my year is up.
