Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002
I moved into this apartment with my fiance, and it was the first time we had leased outside of the college dorms, so needless to say, we were novices at the whole system.
The grounds are not completely wrecked or anything like that, but they are definitely worn. Lots of cracks and potholes in the roads. Just not great on the overall presentation of the facility. Also, if you live here do no forget to write your name on the inside of the mailbox, becuase your mail will not be delivered (this is prolly common, just letting you know becuase my mail was returned to sender for 3 weeks before i finally asked the office staff and they let me in on the secret). Also, we toured during the middle of the day so we did not get to experience the joy of the nightly train that comes by just 200 ft from our window at about midnight. That was great.
The outside would not of been so bad if it weren?t for the safety issues!! Our car was broken into 3 times. I seriously suspect our neighbors who just happened to notice us installing a stereo I got my fiance for his birthday and then it was stolen. Another time a subwoofer was stolen. The third time they actually attempted to take the car but were apparently completely incompetent and just succedded in breaking steering column.
The car theft aside, our neighbors were SO scary. We came home one day to find the multiple police cars in front of our unit with all the neighbors in the adjoining unit on the ground being arrested. That really made me feel safe at night. The neighborhood kids would come to play with my puppy when I took him on walks and they would tell me about how they all get robbed also.
When I moved out I did not get slamed with any unreasonable fees, however I do not know if that was becuase they were fair or becuase all my correspondence with management was written in a very lawyer-ish fashion and they just didnt want to mess with me. There had been two different occasions where small things were not abiding by community rules (one of the blinds covered by my patio wall has a crinkle in it, dont ask me why this out of all things got cited) and I was sent some sort of warning to eviction or some crap. I responded with a very professional letter on letterhead, and I got the feeling that after that I was treated much more professionally and with a lot more curtousy. Thats my opinion though.
Last thing, I paid $630 a month for a 2bdrm 1 bath, and it was really not a lot of squqre footage for the money. There are better deals out there. The kitchen cabinets required a step to reach into, and the stove was some sort of mini-design. I was so happy when I moved out and got a full range again!
Stay away unless your a built male whos not afraid of being robbed and raped in the night with a very very good car theft deterrent system!!!!
