Wish it would have turned out differently...

When I moved back to Arizona to attend ASU, I moved to Salado Springs. It was the first apartment complex I visited in person and I was sold. The staff was wonderful and always delightful to speak to. After reading some of the other reviews, I can agree that the traffic (both airplanes and street transit) can be annoying but I got used to it (probably because I spent a better part of my life living not to far from an aiport - might be a bit biased) and I can also see where it might not be the safest place to walk or ride your bike late at night (although things are really safe during the day and they are as well at night as long as you are careful.) I would have stayed at Salado Springs for my entire stay in Arizona while I was attending ASU if it were not for my NOISY upstairs neighbor. He was HORRIBLE! I spoke with him on a handful of occasions and he would calm down for a few days or if I was lucky a couple weeks at a time and then he would go back to blaring his music at all hours of the day and night (I hated hearing that one song on repeat for what seemed like an eternity!), plus it seemed like he was ALWAYS running around. I brought this to the attention of the staff on a few occasions and they spoke with him, but it wasn't enough. They did offer to give me another apartment, but I was stubborn and didn't want to move to another unit based on the principle that I wasn't being the annoying and loud neighbor. I can guarantee you that if it were not for that neighbor, I would have defintely stayed at Salado the entire time I attended ASU. I even helped move a couple friends in to the complex a year after I moved out. So although my situation was horrible due to one individual, I would still recommend Salado Springs. Oh yeah, and the maintenance is top notch! Never had a problem. My AC unit blew up and with a couple days of that happening (boy were those two days hot!) I had a brand new, state-of-the-art AC installed for my unit. Boy was that AC nice! Anyway, I am rambling. So if you are looking for a typically quiet apartment complex (don't get me wrong, there are a few parties on the weekends) within biking distance to ASU, Salado Springs is a great choice! Just look out for that noisy neighbor!
