Ahhh, San Marbeya. We've had our ups and downs over the past year and a half, but overall, it's been an ok experience. I will have lived here for 2 years by the time I move out, so that's gotta say something (well, mainly that I didn't want to have to bother with finding another place to live).

The proximity to ASU is what initally drew me to the complex and the general appearance and maintanence of the place. I had high hopes, but soon encountered obnoxious and disrespectful neighbors below me (which have since moved out...or should i say, forced out. hehe) and drunken idiots at the pool. In fact, I don't even go to the pool anymore because I can't even relax. I've seen guys who were clearly wasted out of their minds jump off the waterfall rock structure completely naked with Super Soakers in hand aiming at, well, they probably didn't even know who or what they were hitting. I was just waiting for someone to smash their head on the side of the pool. Hardly the environment for relaxing. The complex also hosts a number of parties sponsored by Bud Light, including "dancers" on floating stages or some crap like that and blast the music so loud that you can't even THINK, let alone study, in your apartment several buildings away.

Which brings me to another point: the grounds keepers start their mowers, blowers, and weed-wackers at a bright and early 6am! I appreciate the fact that they keep this place clean, but what happened to their policy of quiet hours from 10pm to 10am''

This place is chock-full of sorority girls and frat boys. I'm not being judgemental (I mean, I see the stickers all over their cars), but let's just say this isn't exactly my crowd. So it's a little frustrating during the semester when I'm trying to get some sleep before an exam, but can't because people are yelling at each other after coming home from the bars at 3 am on a Tuesday night. Here's some advice to future residents: invest in a good pair of earplugs.

As for the apartments themselves, they're great. Good sized bedrooms...the layout is a little uninspiring...typical apartment. Parking is ALWAYS a problem. You only get one assigned spot, even with a 3 bedroom apartment, and they definitely made some poor decisions on planning for parking. You learn to live with it though.

Oh, and the annoying gate' False sense of security...basically a pain. People have rammed trucks into it to get it open...just an excuse to hike up the rent by having one.

If I were to do it again, I'm not sure if I'd live here. If you're the type of person who likes stay up until 4am or constantly have a beer in hand, this place is a perfect fit. For the rest of us though, I'd keep on looking.
