You want to live here'''

The drama this complex has to offer never ends!! I cannot wait for my lease to be up so I can get out of this community! If you are planning on renting here please do not be fooled by all the song and dance they give you and by the floor models they show you. To get right to the point: the complex is in really bad shape, the office staff is incompetent and rude and allot of the residents are drug dealers and thieves.
Below is bits and pieces of Foxtree drama. Unfortunately their is way too much to list all of it. If I did it would be a novel!! Here it goes:
After living in the complex for two years I began to figure out their way of doing things. When they sent me their charming "please renew your lease" notice I met with them regarding the "options they had to offer me". Nothing they had to offer was really exciting, but I was getting a rent break. I told them if I decided to stay in the complex I wanted new carpets, tile added to my bathroom, kitchen/ entry way and my countertops resurfaced. All these things were agreed to by Robin the community manager. When I went to the office to sign my lease I passed by my new unit and noticed that a carpet cleaner was in the apartment. This concerned me because I was told I would have new carpets! I went up the stairs to look in to the apartment and saw that the kitchen did not have tile and the carpets were old and stained!
I immediately went to the community manager about the carpet and tile. She acted confused and said the error was just a miscommunication. She assured me she would get the new carpet and tile in to the unit for me before I was scheduled to receive the keys. One day before I was supposed to receive the keys I got a call from the office saying that my move in would be delayed by three days due to the carpet and tile instillation. This was a financial inconvenience for me because I now needed to pay extra days rent on my old apartment. I finally received the keys to my new apartment at the close of business on the fourth day, it was fantastic. We had to move our whole apartment over night! I was naturally concerned about having to pay rent on the four days the complex delayed my move in. I spoke with Robin about this and I was assured that I would receive a reimbursement on the four days rent.
Once I got settled I noticed that I had no phone service. I contacted the phone company about the problem and they told me my service had been connected, they had to send out a technician to check on the service problem and I was billed $85.00 for the visit. The technician determined that the problem with my phone was a wiring problem within the building and that they could not fix it for me. I was instructed to contact the complex management about fixing the wiring. I went to the complex office and spoke with Beth (who is now the assistant manager of the community). I told her I expected them to fix the wiring immediately. I also asked that they reimburse me for the technician fee and the days I was paying for my phone when it wasn't working. She was very rude and she insisted that the phone problem was not Foxtree's responsibility. I had to look up the renter/ tenant laws and take them in to the community manager to finally get my phone fixed and my fees reimbursed.
During this whole mess Robin terminated her employment and Melissa (who ha a huge attitude problem) has replaced her. I was assured by Robin that all my reimbursement information would be passed on to the new manager and that I would soon receive a check for the charges. Instead of receiving a check I received a notice from Melissa stating that I have an outstanding balance on my account. I went into the office to discuss the outstanding balance and was printed out a statement of my charges and credits by Beth. She sat down with me and attempted to determine what month my account acquired and outstanding balance. I found out that credits were being applied to my account instead of AIMCO sending me a check for the reimbursements I was to receive. However, all the credits weren't being applied. After much confusion I retreated to my apartment to pull my files and find exactly out what was going on with my account. After several days I found that the outstanding balance resulted in only being credited for three days instead of four days when my move in was delayed. When I met with Melissa about this I showed her the print out Beth had given me and I attempted to show her where I was missing a credit. She got angry and grabbed the print out away from me. She said that I would not be receiving a credit for the fourth day my move in was delayed. I demanded that she give me back my print out. She said the balance information was confidential and belonged to Foxtree. I told her that her assistant manager had given it to me and that I intended on keeping it for my records. She finally made me copy if it and kept the original. She also rudely explained that since I received my apartment keys at the end of the of the fourth day I was to be charged rent for that day. "It was unethical to apply a credit for that day if at any time you I had possession of the keys." I was outraged!! Foxtree had had the miscommunication about my carpet and tile and it was their fault my move in was delayed! I was told by Robin that I would receive credit for four days rent and now Melissa is going back and changing it. Besides we were forced to completely move our apartment in the middle of the night because the complex didn't have the work completed at the start of business on the fourth day like they said they would!! I have refused to pay the outstanding balance and I am taking this problem straight to the corporate office.
Also, when I signed my lease I was required to list the license plate number and description of each vehicle on a form for the office to keep. The form is for them to know who owns what cars- makes sense huh' Interestingly enough the complex has decided to tow my car for no reason and they didn't even notify me! This is irritating because I do not know why they would tow my car. Furthermore, why wasn't I contacted about the car before it was towed''
What else' Lets see, maintenance does a awful job at fixing things too, they often even create new problems by "fixing things". After I fought the complex to get new carpet and tile in my apartment. Maintenance came into mess with my kitchen sink. They stained the carpet and got some type of plaster on my kitchen tile!
Their are plumbing and electrical problems with the community which make "all utilities included" allot more of a pain than it should be. When I lived in the C building in 2002 we lost power for over 8 hours one evening. None of the complex staff were concerned about it either! When I contacted emergency maintenance I was told the power company would be over to work on it. The weird part was only the C & D buildings lost power. Just recently I observed the C & D buildings loosing power (for about 6 hours) again this year! It's obviously a reoccurring problem.
The complex has turns the water off regularly and when it is time to switch from heat to AC they have to shut the air/ heat off for two or three weeks to convert the system.
I have also observed several of the first floor apartments (the ones partially below ground) get flooded out due to a plumbing problem. People's furniture and belongings were strewn out on the lawn/ gravel in front of the apartments and they were practically camping out for days!
When I contacted the corporate office about the complex I took several pictures of complex problems such as stair cases with cracked and broken cement steps, large holes left uncovered where plumbing was being fixed, tree roots growing up through cement sidewalks and light poles that have fallen over and have stayed that way for weeks. The parking lot does not have adequate lighting at night, the landscaping is terrible and the community areas are never useable. Wait excuse me the BBQ's are useable but that is about it! Their is some pervert that steals women's underwear out to the laundry room and other people will steal your clothes if you don't sit in there while everything washes/ dries. My car has been broken in to also!
Each apartment has it's own story and battle scars too! Some doors are so warped that the barely open/ close, walls and ceilings have been patched with what looks like paper mache, the counter tops are vintage 1970's lime green with coats of white or cream spray paint over them, the cabinets are covered with dark brown "fake wood" siding that was glued on, in may cases it has come unglued but has been nailed back on, the carpets are cleaned after each resident moves out but are seldomly replaced- stains will appear when you haven't even dropped anything in that spot, their are several layers of tile all laid on top of each other, the bathrooms have rusty faucets, the tubs/ showers are stained and caulking has been reapplied several times to patch different areas.
Now with all the problems in the complex some things have been improved. Lets see, last year the exterior was completely painted white and brown. Melissa just had all the hand rails and the fencing painted green, and the laundry rooms have gotten green screen doors installed in them. Their are regular landscapers that come once a week to cut and blow grass/ leaves too. Oh and Melissa is attempting to improve resident morale by creating a monthly news letter that they distribute. The news letter includes a pretty little monthly calendar with holiday pictures and rent reminders. Also, each month Melissa does little contests/ games that residents can play to earn free rent. They did an earth day contest where residents submitted "ideas to management about how to improve mother earth" each idea got you an entry in to the free rent drawing. Exciting huh' Personally I don't think improving morale is they way to fix the complex. The residents hate the community because it's crappy, nothing is fixed sufficiently and the staff is rude. So wouldn't those be the areas to improve'' I think it is funny how Melissa is doing everything she can but actually fix the problems needing attention.
I defiantly would not recommend this complex to anyone! Sure the rent is cheep and utilities are included but the place is just not worth all the stress and drama. If you do move here get renters insurance, you'll need it! Also document everything and get all promises made by Foxtree in writing otherwise you will get screwed big time!!!
