DON'T MOVE HERE

I lived here for a year and a half. I lived in an apartment and then moved to one of the townhouses in the back with my boyfriend and a roommate. My boyfriend lost his job and the roommate flaked on the rent. Long story short, they were totally not willing to work with us on the rent because the check bounced. They wanted 2,500 to stay or or 4,500 to move out and terminate the lease. Living paycheck to paycheck that was great news. My boyfriend had to take out another loan on his car to pay the 4,500 dollars.
When it was just me living in the apartment, they never had a problem with me paying rent late. So this just shows me that they don't care about you or you're problems, they just want your money. Nice, real nice. Maintanence here is also a joke. Steer clear of this place if you think you will have an financial hardships in the future, because they don't care.

It's reviews like this that make this site more and more useless. When you sign a lease you are signing a contract. If you don't follow the terms of the contract (i.e. don't pay rent) you are breaching your contract, which is against the law. Writing rubber checks is technically against the law as well and the bank does have every right to take action against you. So you have admitted to breaking the law twice and yet you can't take responsibility for your actions, so you blame it on the apartment. Nice, really nice.
Also, I know this apartment doesn't charge $2500 per month for rent, so it is obvious that you were behind more than a month. That's really not the apartment's problem, it is yours. Let's put it this way: say your employer is having some financial difficulties and says, "Sorry, I can't pay you for a few months. Hope ya don't mind." You'd be pissed, right? That's exactly what you are doing to this apartment complex. They depend on their rental income to pay for all of their bills, like utilities they cover, landscaping, repairs, etc. If you (and others like you) don't pay your rent, they can't pay these bills, so it trickles right back to you- you and your fellow tenants that HAVE paid their rent lose amenities!
So, if you have a legitimate gripe about something they are doing, fine, complain. You mentioned the maintenance is "a joke." Why? Don't come on here pointing fingers at your landlord because you are breaking the law! It makes it difficult for people to accurately evaluate a complex.

Again...all people expect is a little compassion...instead they demanded serveral months rent or get out...is that fair? I think NOT.

I have to agree with the first response. Don't write a negative review just because they won't let you get away with not paying rent.

No simple as someone not doing their job. The money was there. Simple as that. I have no reason to attempt to jump on my rent, I am a responsible person. Like I said it was a ONE time occurance. And your responce just further fuels my argument that "they" don't care. Someone down on thier luck and you just don't care. It would seem to me that you would work with them and get the money that you could then making them move out and then not renting it out to anyone? What is the smarter practice?

So then pay the late fees, nsf fees and any other fees that you agreed to when you signed your lease, a legal document, and you can stay in your apartment. Where's the problem with doing what you legally agreed to do? Or does your legal agreement that you signed somehow magically not apply to you when you overdraw your checking account? Or did your lease state that when you demand sympathy then all fees are dropped? Or does the law not apply to any person existing in the space immediately around you when you decide? I guess police just issue you a warning when you tell them that you did not know what the speed limit was and you deserve some sympathy?

I agree completely with the first response. I have been checking out this site for reviews on potential apartment complexes to check out when I am in town as I am anticipating a move back to the area. With so many responses like the original posting, I don't know what to trust on this site anymore.

People are so petty. They want everyone to cater to their poor planning and irresponsibility. I am a college student and have never ever been late with rent or any other bills even if I lost my job for 6 months. I always found the money somehow even if I didn't eat or drive for a month. People really need to get off their high horses and understand that their lease is a binding contract for the lease term.
