Run...Run far and run fast

My experience at Tempe Groves was far from satisfactory.

Everything started off badly when the complex did not have our apartment ready on our move-in date. My roommates, my parents and many friends of ours all showed up with carloads full of boxes and furniture, only to be told that our apartment was not ready and that we would have to wait over 4 hours in the blistering sun to get our keys (it was the end of July). They were going to give us a garage to temporarily store our things in, but luckily, a kind maintainance man let us in and allowed us to put things in the apartment, as long as we kept it on a certain wall so that it wasn't in the way of the work that they needed to do.

We found out later that our apartment wasn't ready on time because of a health hazard. The previous renter had disappeared and left behind a dog and a ferret that were found dead in the apartment and rotted so badly that they had begun to smell up the hallway. The management had to replace all the items in the apartment, but never told us. We only found this out from neighbors who became friends, and were responsible for reporting the incident.

Crime was also a HUGE problem. One of the windows on my sister's car was broken. The side mirror on my car was busted off. My roommate's car was broken into twice and her stereo was stolen both times. She got a new car, and within two weeks, someone jacked it up, put it on cinderblocks and stole the front two wheels.

The office staff was useless. It took us over a month to get a screen door installed in our apartment (that, mind you, should have been there from day one). It was only installed after numerous requests by every member of the household and, finally, a written letter.

You have to pay if you want any kind of covered parking (even though they told us we would be provided with one spot before we signed the lease). If you don't, you have a LENGTHY hike to your car. There are "circles" inbetween most of the buildings, but heaven forbid if you park in them for more than a few minutes, even if you are unloading. My sister's car was towed when she ran up very quickly (less than 20 minutes) to changed clothes and go to work. That was a nightmare in and of itself, as the towing company the complex uses are the rudest, most vile people I have ever encountered. My roommate's car was towed when she was trying to put stuff in her car upon move out.

There are so many things wrong with this place it's not even funny. There are a lot of things I haven't even gone into. Trust me, don't waste your time or money. You will regret every second.

One last thing...I'm wondering just how much the management paid those who wrote positive reviews...Ah, well. The staff probably wrote them themselves, seeing as how they have all that extra time on their hands since they do nothing.
