Just left - not miserable, but not great.

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
I moved in Sept '05 & when I left in Nov. '06, I was on the 3rd management company. I had a lot of problems, but with the other companies. I'm not sure what made this luxery because it seemed like standard apartment to me.
My biggest complaint were the front doors and all the kids. There are a lot of families here and kids kinda ran around at their own free will - ran through the halls all the time too. The doors are on those automatic springs where they close on their own. That gets so loud and it shook my apartment floor & walls. Once, it shook so much I had apicture fall off of the wall. I had asked neighbors about it & it wasn't the people slamming them, it was the doors closing on their own. Even if you shut it on your own, the stipping was so bad, you had to pull it closed.
This management team wanted to raise my rent $120/mo at lease renewal time & wanted $976 for anything less than 4 months - I had a medium sized one bedroom.
At lease renewal, to get me to sign, they told me maintenance calls were answered in 48 hours & I found it was more like 2 weeks. Imagine using the kitchen sink instead the shower & bathroom sink. I left my service request on the machine, a week later nothing. Then, called again got apologized to and was told it would be done the next day. I had to go into the office & ask again. It was finally fixed. I was promised a $30 credit for it. When I called to make sure it was there before paying rent the next month, she hadn't placed the credit. I was on the honor system to shortpay my rent w/a letter of explaination. Guess she should have asked her husband & kid to go home so she could work (she lives in the complex). By the way, I'm getting my deposit back less that $30 because the letter was seperated from the rent check. I'll get $30 back by sending a copy of the letter - good think I kept a copy.
People "steal" covered spots all the time. I was in the office one day & a resident was complaining about her spot being taken by a motorcycle - she had an infant & that's why she paid for the spot. The office assistant said it was her motorcycle & she can't drive it yet so she can't move it & told the resident she'd have to park somewhere else. She also said the resident could park in the employee spot in the meantime - but the office will tow your car the second they notice it there, so what's the point' The employee was not sympathetic & didn't apologize & put her motorcycle there knowing it wasn't one that belonged to the apartment. I noticed a lot of visitors in and out all the time and a lot them would park in handicapped places. Since they didn't have a lot of covered parking spaces, you had to pay $25/mo. I had one gal knock on my door at least 5 times in the last 5 months asking if a drove a specific car because someone had double parked her or taken her spot. Once, someone was in her spot & had her car towed out of her own spot.
I never had any crime problems. They did hire a security team that was good but got rid fo them due to poor tenant feedback. Just remember, this place is at the border of Tempe & Guadalupe & Guadalupe doesn't exactly have the highest caliber people you'd expect to be around when you live in a "luxery apartment".
