Nice While You're There, Hell Once You Leave

I lived here for a year.

I loved it, the only reason I moved out was that they upped the rent once again.

It's a bit pricey to start with, but the jump put it beyond what I was comfortable paying.

I moved into a two bedroom apartment for less than what I paid there for a one bedroom.

I never had a problem while living there though.

I found the office staff pleasant, the property was always well kept, and repairs were fixed within 48 hours.

However, once I left they tried charging me for pet damages, dirty appliances, and "excessive cleaning" charges.

First off, I didn't receive a bill from them officially.

Several months after moving out I got a call from a collection agency, despite having provided my new address, and my cell phone number to them before moving out.

Secondly, I never owned a pet, and I'm a neat freak and kept everything spotless.

I literally washed the walls and shampooed the carpeting before moving out.

I was once told to take photos before you turn in your key so as to have proof of the status of your place before leaving, which I did here.

After receiving an astonomical bill for an absurd amount I went back to the office to talk with them because I was sure that they had sent me the move out bill for the wrong apartment.

They assured me that the bill was completely accurate.

I went back into them a few days later and showed them my photos, as well as reminded them (with a copy of my lease) that I did not own a pet.

However, they refused to budge.

I ended up having to pay the bill, and a fee to the collection agency, to avoid ruining my credit.

I'm seriously considering taking them to small claims court over the matter because I have proof that their claims are absurd, and it is a lot of money they basically stole from me.

I wish I had read through the reviews on this site before hand, as it seems I'm not the only one charged absurd move out charges.

These charges not only cost money, and time, but they also ruin your credit, and may prevent you from renting at another complex.

For these reasons I would NOT consider renting here!!!!!! Ever!!!!

I had the exact same problem. I left assuming that everything was perfect, as I signed papers and everything, but more than a year later I found out (through credit reports) that I had a debt !!! it was these guys charging me $130.00 for leaving a couple of newspapers under the sink !!! And they never told me anything directly up front !!!

I am sorry to hear these problems from these people. It seems to me that its important to take pictures. I took pictures of my last apartment, which was with the same company, and did an inspection with maintenance before I moved out to make sure I knew what I was in for. When I moved out I had everything done but forgot to clean the stove and they charged me a small cleaning fee for that, which I understood. I honestly think that people need to take responsibility for what they do. However, life isnt fair and not everything will be perfect every time. I used to be in property management, so I know what its like from both sides. In my experience, the majority of people dont read and pay attention to the way things work. This is the main reason why I am on here today typing up my opinions, first of all thats all this site is anyway, an opinion. Take everything with a grain of salt and form your own opinions based on your own experiences. Second of all, I believe you make your experiences what they are, its all how you handle it and learn from them. Dont react, respond!
