So-So

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2004
I have lived here for almost 3 years and have seen lots of change both good and bad.
Let me start with the apartment itself. After the last change in management, the name change to Univ Crossroads, the apartemnt units have improved drastically. There are new carpets, new fixtures in the kitchen, new washers/dryers in the laundry, a new entertainment and computer center. The restrooms have new stuff, but basically built over the old stuff. As another reviewer mentioned they have used cheap quality stuff during the renovation process. But its much better that what it used to be 2-3 years ago. Oh and yes there are almost no roaches now. Thats a big relief because this place was famed for its roaches.
The less said about the management the better. They are rude, uncouth, uncourteous, do not like to help at all and will try to in fact go out of their way to screw you. Steve, the manager, and his wife Nina "manage" the place. They are supposed to be in the office along with 1-2 other people, but most of the time they are away and leave a poor clueless lady sitting there who does not know what she's doing. Steve will not do anything, will not respond to calls or messages left for him. In fact when I wanted to complain about them to someone in their corporate office and asked them for the address, they all laughed it off saying no one cares. In fact all Steve does is sit and watch TV in the entertainment center all day. Basically the management needs to be kicked in the rear and taught some manners to start off with.
The people living here used to be decent students until this management came in. Now the apartmens are full of shady people. I have seen 4-5 drug busts in the last 3 months here. Of course it would help if the management themselves did'nt look like drug peddlers. I guess the criminal check that they tell you about when you sign the lease is all a farce.
Parking has become a nightmare with no assigned spots. Of course even if there were assigned places, the shady people would probably park anywhere.
The best part about staying here, other than the proximity to ASU and Mill is the maintenance. They rock. Both Jim and Joe are very friendly, know what they are doing and strive to solve problems asap. They know that the management sucks and try their best to make up for it. They really should be the managers.
You may be thinking why I lived here for 3 years if it was so bad. Well, inspite of the roaches earlier, the management (Charlie) was friendly, the neighbours were awesome and it was close to school.
I guess you can move in here and pray that you don't get involved with the wrong people and do not have to interact too much with the management. This would be a good place if you need to be close to school and have good roommates and dont have to interact too much with anyone else.
However, drug dealers are welcome. Talk to Steve Warburton (manager) for special discounts!!
