BEWARE OF VILLA NICOLE

We rented an apartment at Villa Nicole for 18 months. Right up until the last month we had a relatively pleasant experience. It's in a great neighbourhood, it seems relatively safe and the apartments are nice inside.

However the way we were treated by the management, at the end of our stay, completely ruined our experience:

We were only on a month to month contract, which legally meant we could be evicted with 1 month notice at any time. This is what happened (even though we would have been willing to sign a 1 year lease if we were given the option) - the apartment manager 'assumed we didn't want to sign a year lease because of a passing comment that we didn't want our rent raised' and therefore didn't contact us to see if we really wanted to stay and were willing to pay higher rent. Instead he just gave us our eviction notice and told us they were doing maintenance on our apartment. When we suggested we move out until the maintenance was complete, we found out that he had actually already found new tenants to start renting our apartment. And he was unwilling to correct, what we thought was his lack of communication with us, by actually allowing us to stay and telling the prospective residents they could not rent here (I asked the apartment manager, in a phone conversation, if he had a legally binding contract with the future residents and he said no but he didn't want to tell them they could not have the apartment BECAUSE IT WAS BAD BUSINESS.)

So eventually, after some very unpleasant conversations with the management, we decided to accept the decision and moved to a different apartment complex. Even though we felt mistreated, we spent hours cleaning our apartment so that we would get our full security deposit back. On the inspection I was told the place was fine and we would get the full amount back. Oh no! We've just received our check and it is less than the full amount. The explanation I was given in a phone call was that our stove pans were not clean (we had bleached them and cleaned rigorously), there was some sort of grease on the walls (from what we don't know - is that not part of usual wear and tear') and there was a greasy substance behind our bedroom door which 'MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A FOOD FIGHT!'. Unbelievable.

A warning to all those who are considering renting at Villa Nicole; you may have a good experience at this place, but you may get treated like a couple of mother f***ers like we did.

I agree with you on this review my experience with this place was ok but not perfect. The management needs to change in this place he doesn't do his job right, and he plays alot of favortism too. I thought I had left high school until moved into this place there is alot of clicks in this place. Also alot of back stabbers living in these apartments its pretty funny how nice they are to your face when you are nothing but nice to them. Also the safety isn't that perfect because I had my car window broke twice in that apartment complex.

Are you kidding!?! How can anyone not like Villa Nicole!?! I miss that place, loved living there. I don't know about backstabbing, I never really got "involved" with my neighbors more than just a passing "hey." I don't know if its the same guy running the place but I was treated fair, no gripes there. Just amazed that somebody didn't like it, amazed!
