AVOID THIS APARTMENT

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
I ve lived in this apartment for two years. I recently moved to another apartment as I finally can t tolerate this apartment anymore. I feel I have to say something about real truth. I will keep objective in this review.
As said by others, the good point is its location. It s closed to Safeway. The living room is the biggest I ve ever seen. They also have swimming pools and you don't have to pay the air condition.
However, beneath it, as mentioned by others, the management of this apartment is a hell. In the last two years, this apartment has changed more than 7 managers! Almost every quarter we saw manager left and new manager came. For this reason, the management service is never continuous as it should be. If you require a repair, you will be more than likely not to get it fixed in time, because current manager will leave and the new manager will know nothing. Our kitchen sewer leaked to yard for over one year. We reported for 5 times, no one came to fix it.
The biggest reason that I decided to leave is that they are not doing business honestly. In these 7 managers, only one manager Daniel really cared about renters and trying to improve management (but he stayed for less than 2 months). All others are rude, unconscious about renters and lie. Yes, they lie. I ve even seen a manager lie to the police.
One reason of this horrible management, I think, is that the manager is paid badly and has minimum power to function their work. Each time you renew your contract or bargain for rent, you are not only dealing with the manager, but the owner and the company, which is in New York. That means you have to deal with three parties (manager, owner, company) and each of them will direct you to the others. So you are trapped in a loop and you ll never even talk about what you want.
They do have a lot of moving specials. However, if you are a bargain hunter, you ll never think of this apartment. Yes, they include air conditioning in the rent. However, the rent itself is much higher than the average. Our calculation on our own rent indicated that we actually paid $1,200 per year for the air conditioning (a/c only)! Are you going to use that much of air conditioning' If not, you re not saving money if you live here.
Trust me, when you renew your contract, they ll do everything to increase your rent. I think this is a silly business model. How can an apartment care more for new renters than old renters' They re actually persuading old renters to leave. I observed that they normally have 25% of empty room rate. Because the current renters are forced to move and they have no capacity to bring new renters. The neighbor apartment Desert Palm does the exactly opposite way. Desert Palm cares about the older renters much more (I have no relationship with Desert Palm. I make my judgment solely based on my observation).
Recently, we moved out and required our $300 deposit back. Each time we called the manager, the manager said check would come that day, but by the end of that day, if we called again, he just said check was not received. We called over 10 times and received the same excuse. What a silly excuse and he was not even shamed to lie. Then he said we could contact the owner and company. We called the owner and company and were directed back to the manager (exactly the three party loop). After two month, we received a letter which just said that we got nothing back from our deposit. They will use every excuse, exist or not exist, to eat all of your deposit, even though you cleaned your room very well by yourself when you leave.
I got sick of their cheating and lying. I am so glad to stop paying money to these cheating and lying guys (owner, manager and company). I don't think their business can run well by this way because they can only cheat new renters. So their only hope is the new renters, which could be you. If I were you, I ll never think about this apartment. There re a lot of good apartments around this place (i.e Desert Palm). Don't jump into trap while there re other solid grounds around it.
