Keep Looking

Willow Creek appeared to be a satisfactory complex when we moved in mid-2004.

Once management changed hands, however, everything went downhill incredibly fast.

We had a dispute with management which they absolutely refused to try to settle with us and ended up involving their lawyers using unscrupulous means to attempt to scare us into dropping our court claim, as we represented ourselves, before we could come to an agreement months later.

Furthermore, one of the perks of living in the complex, as it didn't have an on-site fitness center was a membership to a local fitness club.

Again, when management changed hands, they cancelled the gym membership, but assured us they would soon have a deal with another local gym.

In approximately 8 months, that never happened.

The office staff often seemed to have dual personalities...one day they would be exceptionally friendly and amenable, but the next day they would seem to rather spit on you than keep you happy and keep your business.

Appliance and other apartment problems were constantly and inappropriately blamed on us and not fixed promptly.

In addition, near the end of our tenancy, the apartment grounds began to fall into serious disrepair and the management claimed to be unaware.

Finally, I'm honestly concerned that the management will be vindictive to get us back for our earlier legal success, as their actions have always been truly questionable dealing with tenants, and will say that we left the apartment in a filthy state when the unit was in good shape minus normal wear-and-tear, which is an ambiguous term and leaves the complex plenty of room to hit you with surcharges for cleaning carpets and painting.

I sincerely recommend you avoid this complex and keep looking...there are plenty of nice apartments in Tempe/Mesa that are professionally run businesses and will treat you infinitely better than Willow Creek.
