Alot of Ups and Downs

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2009

I've lived at this apartment complex for 8 years. In that time, I've put up with some pretty bad construction issues. I went from a very large walk-in closet to something I can't even fit all of my clothes in as they cut my closet space by 2/3 in order to install a washer and dryer in my apartment. Granted, the washer and dryer is nice and it's great not to have to walk to a laundry room. However, they are charging $35 more a month for the washer / dryer and the construction itself was not optional. I work full-time and go to school full-time, and the construction interferred with my job and school schedule as I had to spend time to empty all of my closets, live out of boxes, restock everything, go without water for periods, etc. It was incredibly stressful. They said they couldn't compensate me for my trouble as they'd have to compensate the whole complex (which they should have--for occupied apartments).
However, that said, it is nice having a washer / dryer in my unit and they are trying to make some complex upgrades. For example, they just added covered parking (assigned) and a fitness room with cardio and weight machines. The complex has improved aesthetically over the years, and there are now more amenities, although there seems to be a few more shady people around lately. I haven't -- thankfully--had any problems with any robberies or break-ins (in neither my car nor my apartment) in the 8 years I've lived here. You can tell the staff is trying to turn things around, but I just think they should compensate their residents for their inconveniences.
For example, I had to have maintenance come out 4-5 times for the same dripping faucet. The last time, the faucet broke and just started gushing water and wouldn't turn off. All day and night the water wouldn't turn off, and the maintenance staff wouldn't respond to emergency paiges. They were supposed to come out the next day to fix it, but when I got home from work the next day at 6pm, they hadn't come and the water was still gushing. It gushed all night again. After complaining to the manager, the manager finally agreed to let me take off the water portion of my bill off that month's rent (around $10), but that didn't even begin to compensate my stress and aggravation.
You can't beat the location, though. And the staff does try (at least the office staff)....

I lived in Willow Creek and they DID compensate me. I did not have to pay rent during the time of the construction. I started filming and taking pictures and said I was going to put it on U-Tube.
