Beware!!!

I never lived here, thanks to what I found out before I signed my name on the bottom line. For starters, the manager sounded rude and condescending to one of the leasing agents when I visited the office. One of the maintenance guy's had to add his 2 cents worth as well, while I was talking to the leasing agent, which I didn't care for his opinion. The leasing agent told us that the complex was in the process of being sold, and I have a feeling one of those changes that the new company was making, was to no-longer allow the laundry to be open 24 hours a day. It was scary too, when the leasing agent didn't even know about the hours change, till he went to go do his laundry and couldn't. I had decided on an apartment, and the day I dropped off the $49 redecoration fee to hold the apartment, I couldn't see the apartment, due to the fact that the carpets had just been cleaned. When I went back later in the week after my application had been approved, I wanted to do a closer inspection before I signed the paperwork. Glad I did. The kitchen and bathroom floors were dirty, as was the bathtub, there were 3 dead roaches in the kitchen sink, and the refrigerator was filthy, with a tupperware bowl in the freezer. The leasing agent's response: that there was another apartment that I could see if I wanted to (no appologies for the apartment not being ready, which I was assured would not be an issue). Also, the patio fence was falling apart. When we went back to the office, and I started to read the leasing agreement, there were 2 major typo's in regard to the monthly rent owed, and the pet deposits. That could have cost me $3.00 per month over what I was quoted, and more deposit money for the pets, over what I was already going to pay. Reading over the Contract, MEB Management requires their tennants to give 60 days notice when vacating an apartment, or they will go after you for the extra costs. You sign your rights away for them to do it too... Whatever you do, proceed with extreme caution when leasing an apartment, read the contract over, and if you don't understand something, ASK QUESTIONS! And double check the numbers. If they screw up, and you sign it, it's too late. It's legal! As for Solero Canyon, if they get their act together, it might be a nice place to live.
