I have lived at altamira since 2004 and I have enjoyed it very much. Before moving in here I looked all over for something better. Sure you can find newer apartments but they will usually cost $60-$100 more per month for the same square footage. This place has an awesome view. You can see Tucson Mall, Best Buy and other stores from the west side of the complex.

This has got to be the best apartment community to live on the north side of Tucson. I first moved into a studio and a couple years later upgraded to a one bedroom when I started making more money.

Yearly, the rent increases have been $15-$25 more per month which is not bad. Your water/trash bill is figured into your rent so you will always know how much it's going to be. Also the office staff is very friendly and courteous. I have no complaints about them or the management whatsoever.

There's always plenty of uncovered parking and every unit has an assigned, covered spot. There's usually a constant background noise of traffic passing through the intersection. It's a pretty busy and dangerous one at that. Frequently you will hear loud cars and noisy motorcycles. It seems that late at night, young adults like to race each other at this intersection heading east down River. While the noise this causes is unwelcome I've never found it to be frustrating and eventually you get used to it and don't notice the road noise at all. Occasionally you will hear collisions or tires squealing, sometimes late at night people will honk their horns at each other which is very inconsiderate, and a few times a week fire trucks are leaving their station (right across the street) with sirens blaring. I almost never hear my neighbors. They are either very quiet or they did a good job insulating the walls for noise.
