There may be lower forms of life than people who manage apartment complexes, and I'm sure some are worse than others, but I have never encountered any as unpleasant, underhanded, and sneaky as some of the employees of Shomac Property Management (a.k.a. SPM), the managers of Arcadia Gardens Apartments in Tucson. The landscaping at Arcadia Gardens might appear to be attractive on the surface, but the poor maintenance and state of disrepair of these miserable, semi-windowless dungeons borders on being unhealthy and downright dangerous. When poor maintenance rendered my apartment uninhabitable for two days, compensation was refused, and I was made to feel as though I had no right to ask for any. The visible management is brash, loudmouthed, and interested in nothing but how much money they can worm out of their tenants, and they will use the most barely-legal methods imaginable. On the other hand, this establishment is probably very attractive to drug dealers and vandals, and there is plenty of the latter in evidence.
