It's true, what they say. "You get what you pay for." Well, perhaps that's why Arcadia Gardens is so dirt cheap. I'll start off with the good things about this complex. The floorplan was good: fair-sized rooms, the kitchen wasn't as tiny as ones I've seen. The landscaping is fairly nice, although the lawn mowers and leaf blowers that come around at 8 in the morning all the time were annoying. That's...about it for good stuff. Now the dirt. The whole parking setup is terrible. From most units, you can't see the parking lot, so your car can easily become fair game without anyone noticing. My roommate's car was broken into TWICE! There is virtually no security, whatsoever. In the time I lived there, I saw a "security car" drive by once. Maintenance never once showed up to fix anything they said they would. They also "spray for bugs" outdoors with hoses that could be considered firehose-caliber, and they get sticky overspray onto your car every Wednesday. Well, whatever it is that they're spraying, they need the up the dosage a bit, we got fatty roaches in our apartment several times, even once there was one crawling on the CEILING of all places, which, one could guess, caused many a nightmare about roaches. We had ants in the bathrooms as well. Bathrooms were mildewy, there was black stuff around the moldings of the shower, that wouldn't come off no matter how hard I tried to scrub it. There was obvious water damage in some places. We could hear EVERYTHING the neighbors did, including taking MASSIVE dumps, snoring, screaming at their kids, playing gangsta rap, et cetera. I think the worst incident of all was when once, at 3 in the morning, one of the neighbors fired a gun right outside our apartment. We later found out that they were evicted, but obviously, the terminally low pricetag on this place beckons lowlifes. So, truly, I stand by the statement, "You get what you pay for!" And do yourself a favor: if you can afford something nicer, don't bother with this dump.
