Very Bad Management

I recently had my AC go out, the AC went down on a Thursday June 24th, 2010. We were told by Arcadia Gardens the AC part(s) would be ordered and they would have them by Friday (6/25). This did not happen, I had to call the office to find that the AC was not going to be fixed until Monday (6/28).
I was offered a model for myself, disabled mother and our pets witch I accepted. We had no Cable, TV or Internet, in fact we only had water, AC and electricity. I figured for a one night stay but that turned into a weekend. On Monday I again had to call (3:30PM) to find that the AC would not be fixed until Tuesday (6/29). OK, Friday to Monday to Tuesday, now I am getting pissed but was still holding my tongue.
So, Tuesday rolls around, I end up calling the property, again, to find out that the AC would not be fixed until Thursday (7/1). Now I am so steamed. I waited this out to Thursday and wow, it gets fixed (8days it took to fix our AC).
I talked to the manager of the property, mentioning pro rate on the rent. The manager stated that this was not their fault and they would not compensate for their failure. I tried to argue the point but management is poor and ignorant.
I contacted the district manager and gave her the run down. She stated that she will need to contact the regional, in fact she stated that she would talk to her that afternoon (7/1) about the pro rate. Finally I'm getting some service, well at least I thought I was. I do not get a call back so I contact the district manager 24hrs later (7/2). She stated that she did not get a chance and that she has not forgot about me. Once again I do not get a call back. Contact with upper management started on Thursday (7/1), it is now Monday (5 days) and it is the 4th of July so rent is going to be due the next day. I call the district manager again (7/4), she has not talked to the regional and stated that it is a holiday, I agreed that it is a holiday, than explained rent is going to be due and I do not have an answer. I get a call 5min later stating I can take $150.00 off my rent.
Now I find that the office needs me to sign a concession and that we owe $150.00. It was explained to the office that this was ok'ed by the district manager, they seemed to know that. I will read the concession and see exactly what they are stating and sign if all is good.
I will not pay for services not rendered. I have not sued Arcadia Gardens for lost work and On Call work time. I lost two full days of work because I took off the days to move us back to our apartment on two separate false occasions that Arcadia Garden dictated. I did not have internet or a computer to do my On Call work so that is more money out the window. We also have utilities that remained on while we were unable to live in our 100 plus degree apartment. Not including the pain and suffering of my disabled mother and our animals.
Why is Arcadia Garden doing this to a long term (8 year) tenant? I will be, at the least, moving when my lease is up. I will decided what other actions are necessary once I get my family safely away from this disastrous management.

I agree with you! I loved ------ when we lived there from 2003-2008. Then my 2 roommates went their own way, but I had enough to cover a few more months, while I looked, that is until the mantenance man ha ha "--------" he so styled himself, opened my door with a key and walked right in while I was visiting a neighbor. You ask how do I KNOW it was him. Well, while putting $$ away I turned around and caught him looking in the window, watching me. I should have known right them = trouble. But I thought oh, not here, no never. But, when I came home, sure enough it was all gone. The sorry SOB didn't even leave me a thin dime. So on my previous spotless record, I now have an eviction. It's my belief that's the reason ------ doesn't work there anymore. Oh, I'm not that self important, just that it turned her stomach, what they forced her to do to me. I could tell she didn't want to, the tears in her eyes said all about that. She is a GREAT LADY, a True one, the like of which are few and far between these days. She has intregity (SP) honesty, charm and a perfect moral center, which too many people are lacking these days, as well?!* Best Wishes and Happy Landing from ------- PS If you could get me the name and Phone # of the Company that "runs" Arcadia Garden &/or the Owners, I would surely appreciate it.

The name of the company is Water Tower Realty and the owners name is Nick Karris. They are a real joy thats for sure! Once WTRM took over, they are the reason the manager of 8 years left as well as all the employees. I believe a number you can call is (312) 923-9087 and ask for Nick Karris.

Good Luck getting a response that's worth anything from the Water Tower Realty people. We've been here 8 yrs. and that counts for absolutely nothing. Should have left with the old management team. We are out of here in a few months. Not our home any more!!!!!!
