Do nothing more than read this review. My first college experience was a horrible one and I attribute the majority of that to Arizona Commons II. To begin, after a rainstorm I discovered the roof leaked badly. Water poored all over my bed and my 2000 dollar electric piano. Maintenance took weeks to respond (which I found out was a norm for them) to the damages. Once they got there, repairs were poorly done. My apartment was infested with cockroaches and their eggs. I found them all over: in my shower, in my silverware drawer, under the sink, in my bed--everywhere. These never went away either. The car radio was stolen out of my car. Both my roommate's and my bike were stolen off the bike rack outside (the lock was shattered), and the apartment was literally broken into twice in the duration of my stay, which resulted in the loss of all of my electronic equiptment, DVD's, games, stereo--the whole bit. The floorboards were rotting away, mold grew on the walls and on the faucets and the floor, the air condition was turned off during the winter (which is still a discomfort in Arizona) and was only turned off for a very minute amount of time during the summer. When the air conditioner was on, it did not operate properly. You will not be able to sleep with the heat and the sweat radiating off your body. The carpeting is stained with oil and grease and dirt. The bottoms of my feet were asphalt black just from walking across it. The sinks and bathtubs were always clogged, the bathtub always leaked and all of the faucets were covered in a thick coat of rust. The overall appearance of the area was depressing. The laundry facilties were a scam. The size of the washer allows no more than 5-7 pieces of clothing and it will still cost you nearly 5 dollars a load. The staff claims you have free utilities, but this is nothing short of a joke. The staff controls when the AC is turned on and even what temperature you are allowed to turn it to (never lower than 77 degrees F). The internet connection seldom worked. For one whole semester, it didn't at all, forcing me to stay long, tiresome nights at the University. The walls are paper thin (they will tell you otherwise). You can hear every word your neighbors say. Hope you don't get a guy that does well with women because you will hear him have sex SO CLEARLY. The toilets didn't work well, my bathroom ceiling caved in onto the floor once a bubble of water/drywall popped. The furnishing is apalling, the neighborhood is dangerous and repulsive, and everyone is unfriendly and unwelcoming. Lastly, the staff and the maintence people are useless. The staff is full of inexperienced, poorly educated, over-paid, incompetent people who were apparently raised by snails, not wolves because they have no intelligence, no work-ethic, and their disgusting, slimey, obnoxious behavior leaves you wishing you could injure them very, very much. There isn't much to say about maintenance because I did not seem much of them. They are very uneducated--even in their very profession. They have no knowledge of handywork whatsoever. Please do not go here. I woudn't have wrote this long note if I hadn't hoped it would do some good. This place made me miserable. The staff will try and trick you by showing you a well-furnished version of one of their apartments, but please do not be fooled. Please do not even take a tour. Do not even consider browsing. It is a horrible, horrible place that I unfortunately will never forget. Do not take this lightly; I couldn't be more serious in my attempt to lure you away from this hell-hole.
