I was one of the first people to move into this complex. I moved in about 3 months before the start of the school year 2002. I had a nice 2 bedroom for about 3 months then the new toilet busted a valve and flooded my room; while I was on vacation. =(
Anyway, they did let me move into a new apartment, however it felt more like a forced compensation than a genuine apology. Then a few months after that, I had steel bars installed on my bedroom window without any prior notification and they had them installed at 8 in the morning! Then somebody got shot and died all because they didnt have any security (even though security personell supposed to be there every night). SO after that happened, the Tucson police were stationed at the complex 24/7. U tell me, does a college student apartment complex and police go together' No. We were basically prisoners in our own apartments. Why' because the management either didnt feel it was necessary to have security, or they simply didnt want to pay for it. Oh yeah, lets not forget about the cricket population. I had CRICKETS crawling on my walls every day. do you know how disgusting it is to have those things crawling on your walls and maybe YOU as you sleep' I killed at least 20 of those things everyday for the last 4 months I lived there. They did have exterminators come, but that didnt do a thing. Also, if you sign a lease there and decide you dont want to live there anymore (as I did) they will NOT let you out of your lease agreement. Most places let you pay a penalty fee to get out, even after the lease begins. THESE PEOPLE WOULDNT LET ME OUT OF MY LEASE 3 MONTHS BEFORE IT STARTED!!!! NO OPTIONS OTHER THAN FIND SOMEONE TO REPLACE ME ON MY OWN. Im sorry that is just irresponsible; if they couldnt find anyone else that wanted to live there because the truth about that place got out then hey, thats not my fault. Why force someone to live where they dont want to' Basically, they didnt have their crap together. For $400-$500 a month, your better off getting 3 or 4 friends together and renting a house. At least there you have privacy, security and no cops there on an hourly basis.

I am a resident currently at UniHouse and the problems are just as bad... there are no cops around anymore, but now there is no security either... wait, technically there is but no one knows how to reach them and frankly i don't think one guy driving around in a scion xb is all that intimidating to people breaking into cars. the cricket population is even worse now. and there were "attempted rape incidents" and someone getting beaten up in the pool area at night. and no they will not let you out of your lease if you resign, as i stupidly did prior to the release of all the security. i feel unsafe here. save your money and your time... DON'T LIVE HERE.
