I moved here because I wanted a central location that was away from the noise of the University. I work at home so where I live is very important to me and I am willing to spend a bit more to live at a complex that meets my needs (The rent is pretty high for Tucson-- around $700 per month for a one bedroom). When I first moved in I thought that this was the place. I was wrong. The landscaping is nice but not worth it when you consider the price you pay in peace and quiet. The (very noisy) landscape crew is here several times a week sometimes from 9 to 5. Not only is the noise annoying but I also can't help but think that the excessive attention to landscaping is one of the reasons rent is so high. Barking dogsand the shouting of the landscaping crew round out the auditory experience of living at Capistrano.

The office staff was never excellent but as of late it has gotten a heck of a lot worse. Ajin (the leasing agent) and Shaun (the maintence guy) are unresponsive in the most literal sense of the word. Most of the time when I speak to them, especially about concerns that I have, I am met with blank stares. I'm not sure if they are genuinely dumb or just act clueless to avoid dealing with residents' concerns.

The entire complex has been without hot water for over 12 hours at least twice in the past couple weeks. All summer, they water the sidewalk (um, I mean lawn) but are stingy when it comes to things that we actually care about like maintaining a decent pool temperature. (The pool is heated all year but it seems like whenever Shaun thinks people won't notice he starts turning the heater down.)

I will say one positive thing though (and this is one reason I'm kind of reluctant to move)is that the other resisdents are by and large great. It has a real sense of community. I know at lot of the people here and I'll chat with them at the mailboxes and in the laundry room. I guess adversity brings people together...
