I was very dissatisfied with my experience with Casa Dorinda. I fell in love with the place because it had a had a great view of the mountains, a washer and dryer in the unit, a fireplace and even an alarm on the door. But I became quickly dissatisfied because THE WALLS ARE TOO THIN. They could âdress the apartment up prettyâ, but in the end it was like living in shabby cheap apartment. The thin walls created a problem between myself and a neighbor. She complained irrationally about the common noises of someone living in an apartment above her. Not once did she have a valid complain about music or the TV being too loud, but every complain was permanently attached to my file. I tried to talk to this woman and I agreed to respect her early hours and not run the washing machine or vacuum after 8pm. But still she complained to the on-site management. I told the management that this woman was making irrational demands and that I was not making any noise that was louder than normal. The management agreed with me and told me they would talk to her, but the complaints kept coming in almost every week. She told me in anger that she was intentionally trying to get me evicted. I then wrote to the corporate office. No one ever responded to my letters. After serving nine months out of my twelve, I decided to move out. My lease states that "With permission, that I am allowed to sublet". I was told by one of the managers that there was "No problemâ with me subletting as long as a good candidate replaced me. I submitted an official written request to both the on-site office and the corporate office. I found someone who was even better candidate that I was. The on-site management verbally said that he was approved. Without seeing any other reason for delay, I moved out. After moving out, I was then verbally informed that I was not allowed to sublet. This was decided by the corporate office. I wrote the corporate office asking why they made this decision. As usual, they did not response.

I am the manager at Casa Dorinda Apartments. Our lease states that "the resident may not sublet or assign any portion of the premise without prior written consent from the management, which may be refused at the managements sole discrestion" At no time did I say that it was ok to sublet "as long as there was a good canidate". I did in fact say that the resident could submit a request in writing to the owner which was later denied due to company policy. The resident's reason for seeking a sublet was actually due to having an unauthorized pet that they were unwilling to give up.
