Our problems started on the day we were to sign the lease. The apartment was not ready. It had not been painted, carpet had not been cleaned, vinyl flooring was torn and stained, screens missing or broken.
Soon after moving in, I noticed the shower did not drain due to the floor sloping away from the drain, leaving standing water. Manager refused to make repairs. All repairs took at least two days to fix, and often up to two weeks. The entire complex needs repairs from long term deferred maintenance.
The worst part of living here was the presence of numerous tenants who felt the entire complex was a garbage dump. Every morning, there were empty beer bottles strewn about the parking lots and grounds. This, plus the frequent presence of unregistered and decrepit vehicles made the whole complex an eyesore. The grounds and buildings receive the bare minimum amount of attention.
I am still waiting for return of my pet deposit, and the statutory period during which the landlord must settle this matter has expired. I expect to pursue legal action to obtain return of my deposit.
In all fairness, the Manager, Teresa, seems to have her hands full with deadbeat tenants and a very limited budget for maintenance. It is apparent that the landlord has no long term interest in this property, other than to milk it for revenue until it completely falls apart.
