Could've been better

The first year I lived here I loved the place. Things seemed to go downhill within minutes of resigning my lease.
I requested a covered parking spot and a security screen door. I was told there would be a $100 fee for the screen. I cut a check for $100 and was told it should take about a week. It took almost a month to get an assigned parking spot. It took five weeks, a few visits to the office, and two phone calls to the Wasatch residential division in Scottsdale to finally get the screen installed.
The pool and hot tub were both out of service for a considerable length of time in the late fall (I'm talking months here, not days). After they were repaired they weren't cleaned regularly, but hey - how many people actually use them in the cold weather anyway, right' The most frustrating part was the constantly changing stories from the leasing office as to why they weren't in service and how long it would be until they were.
In two years, the only time the management ever proactively contacted me about anything was when they lost my rent check. After paying rent and utilities in full and on time for a year and a half they had the nerve to post a bill on my door for past due utilities. Fortunately for me, I keep records better than they do. I would strongly suggest keeping copies of all bills/receipts/payments. The scary thing is that the leasing agent who lost my rent check and accidentally charged me for utilities that were already paid was promoted to Financial Manager at Rio Seco Apartments.
The complex does have very pretty landscaping. Just look before you walk on the grass as some of the dog owners don't want to be bothered picking up after their pets. The place usually looked pretty clean except for the abundance of shopping carts. The maintenance people were always quick and professional, and the current head of maintenance really does go above and beyond her job for the residents. The new leasing agent is much more responsive, but the management scenario is the same. The property manager works three apartment complexes so she's not really around enough to know what's going on.
