I've lived in the Hazen Townhome complex on Lee St. (Pima/Swan) and found the townhome wonderful and the staff exceptional. When I moved in, and I was assigned a key, I found out it didn't work. After a phone call, in 20 minutes a new key was brought to me. (Since I didn't want to drive back and exchange it since I was dealing with getting a moving truck.)
Not only that, they will work WITH you. They allowed me to pay my pet deposit (of $500 for 2 dogs) over the course of a couple months after my first month's rent and deposit. ($800 deposit, my rent was $735)
The two bedrooms are good size. And the townhome is pretty large at approx. 1000sqft. The backyards are decent sized, and it was so nice having a carport that was attatched to the townhome. Almost like a garage. The swamp cooler saved me tons of money on my TEP bill, and I never ran out of hot water. Ever. Which is pretty rare in some complexes from other different companies. Although the swamper wasn't very efficient during the monsoon months, but I got used to it pretty quick.
Maintenance was impressive! Whenever I had a problem with anything (like a sliding glass door sticking), after I called, they would be there within hours! Not days or weeks. They always fixed it right the first time, and I think I only made the one call my entire time I lived there for a year.
The staff are amazing, and I don't think I've ever said that about any where I have lived in Tucson. (Ridgepointe, Tucson Rental Homes, etc.) Always friendly, helpful, and obviously care about their tenants. When I had problems with my roommate (when moving out, about paying our ending bills) they even split the rent evenly so that if one of us didn't pay, the other's credit wouldn't be affected. So a huge thank you to Brandt (the manager) and the staff otherwise who knows if my roommate would've paid the last month's rent.
I totally recommend Hazen. My complex was safe, the neighbors were always friendly and respectful, and its dog-friendly. If I wasn't moving away from Tucson, I wouldn't have moved out, but if I move back I definitely will return to Hazen.
(The only problem I think with my complex is that there should be better lighting in the parking lot. For a whole 6 months I didn't even know there were flood lights because they weren't changed. But its nice having your own porch light so you can leave it on if you need to light up your house. Other than that I have no complaints.)
