I lived here 3 years, and I'll say up front the maintenance is slow and often sloppy, which was my one constant frustration. On the other hand, things do eventually get taken care of, and nothing was ever unsafe or unsanitary...just dripping sinks that I had to call about multiple times. The apartment is well-laid out, the grounds beautiful, and the pool one of the biggest in Tucson. The AC is noisy, but the neighbors aren't (in my area, anyway...I understand other parts of the complex are more like living in a frat house). The cluster where I am (3200 building) is very quiet and near a wash, so I get to see all sorts of fun Tucson wildlife (including scorpions, which I could live without). Bunnies play on the lawn, I kid you not. I can feel the temperature drop as I cross the "river" on my way home...it's amazing. Considering the price, it's worth every penny. There are more expensive places and nicer ones, but Hilands is the best value for your money.
