Overall I think the Hilands has been a good complex. I live in a studio aparment, which is the same as the one bedroom space but no wall/door (does have a dividing bookshelf).

I like that there is plenty of covered parking so there is no extra charge for that. The complex has two pools that I use occassionally and that I find are well maintained. They also have two tennis courts, two raquetball courts, 1 basketball court, and a fitness center. I have used the fitness center and find it to be very adequate as well as well maintained. There are plenty of cardio machines.

The grounds are well kept and I think that everything looks very nice. I live in the back area near the 2nd pool and basketball court and it can get noisy during the summer when ppl have their barbecues and kids play outside. But I really haven't had any serious issues, and I am someone who NEEDS quiet. I did have a noisy neihgbor but he moved before I had the chance to complain.

I find the maintenance staff to be friendly and competent, only having had one problem - it was with my dishwasher and it was fixed promptly. The leasing/management staff is not personable and seems to be constantly changing. I don't find them to be helpful and borderline rude and arrogant and not in the least pleasant to deal with. I don't like that you must turn rent int BEFORE the first of the month, and that ON the first is LATE and will not be accepted W/O the late charge fee, I think it's ridiculous to not have a grace period of 1 or 2 days.

I think one issue is recylcing. They use to only accept newspaper, paper, cardboard, but i THINK they accept other recyclables now but have not announced it; it's just there's no longer a sign saying "ONLY PAPER" - I also think that they should address the fact that many ppl throw away paper junk mail right near the mailbox area and should provide a RECYCLING trash can as well as a WASTE trash can. Another issue is the laundry facilities. because there are units with their own W/D there is only 2 on site laundry facilities, but it might as well be 1 cause they are right next to each other and it makes it extremely difficult to do laundry if you are not in a nearby apartment. I always have to drive my car to the laundry facility. What if someone didn't have a vehicle'

Overall I think it is a decent complex and don't have any complaints beyond what could be expected with any apartment complex.

Every place in Tucson has this- only you dont have to deal with FLOODS from pipes burstin g while you are sleeping- then having the staff treat you like ---- after and tell you they would be happy to move your belongings on the back of a golf cart! This place is a joke and someone needs to do something about it. The whole staff should be fired since all they do is treat the tenants like crap. If you decide to move in here- just know you were warned about these issues- you can also expect to deal with a lot of noise, mold, bad security, possibly having your car vandalized, moldy washers, and a huge hassle when you try to address any of these issues to anyone in charge.
