Beautiful, quiet, affordable, safe, and close to everything

I've lived here since June of 2006 and just renewed my lease for another 11 months. I have never lived in another complex where the office was so friendly and willing to help. It's always quiet in our appartment, we never hear the neighbors or people outside partying. The only real noise we've heard is from the upstairs neigbors, but it's nothing that we've had to complain about. There are grassy courtyards, big trees, and lots of barbeques. Parking is also nice, since you don't have to pay for it, and there's enough lighting to keep your car safe. I don't know what people are talking about when they say their cars were broken into and the loud noise, since we have experienced neither. I really recommend this complex to others; it's one of the best places in Tucson-it's close to everything, but away from the hustle of the city.

I had my car stolen from the very dark hilands parking lot quite soon after I moved here. On the same night, another girl had her vehicle stolen, as well. Hilands does not inform residents about the crimes that happen in the complex, so if you haven't yet been a victim... of course you think its safe! I understand that there is just a lot of thefts in Tucson, in general, but the complex should provide better lighting and notify residents- via the monthly community letter or something- that auto thefts have occurred and that peps should be better aware... report suspicious activity (etc) ... particularly since they sell this place as safe.

A friend of mine had her car broken in to, then less then a week later, her boyfriend had a gun pulled on him by some guy checking out the parking lot late at night. This was just a few weeks ago. No mention of these crimes. But wait, what is this on my door? A memo regarding a peeping tom? WOW. Thanks for this pertinent info. Plus, thanks for showing potential thieves who is at home and who is either on vacation or which apartments are empty by hanging this dribble on EVERYONE'S front door behind the door knob...
