Review from a guy who managed thousands of apartment units-GO ELSEWHERE

First the nice stuff...nice manager, nice resident assistants, nice maintainance people and nice neighbors and people to live around. THE END.

Now the skinny: there are so many apartment places BETTER in Tucson, don't get sucked into the "convenient" to-school-thing. By the time you walk or bike to your class, you'll be dripping in sweat. This place is/was SO OVERPRICED for what you can get elsewhere...$580 a month for each person! Give me a break...there are so many nice places in town when you're looking for a two bedroom and have over $1,000 to spend.

In ten years of asset-managing thousands of apartment units and complexes, I have never seen a LEASE so "AIR-TIGHT." What I mean by this is this:

You will be signing your life away for one school year. UNLESS YOU DIE OR YOU LEAVE SCHOOL ENTIRELY, you will not be able to break or move before your lease is up, NO MATTER WHAT! Sure, go ahead and move...they will just keep charging your school account. Yes, they claim to have "an appeals process," but be ready to "air" everything in front of school committee after school committee...the U of A or the apartments could care less about "your" well-being. They just want you in that lease-NO MATTER WHAT.

KNOW YOUR ROOMMATE BEFORE YOU MOVE IN TOGETHER-if the roommate isn't working out...good luck jumping through all the red-tape to move into another apartment or with someone-else. In all fairness, I lucked out and had a nice roommate, but I watched friends who lived in LaAldea have roommate problems...it took months and threats of legal action to get them to do anything.

If you do get any type of parking, you will be at least one-mile away from your front door...no need to join a gym or go to the rec-center. Just shopping for groceries becomes a major production and time-consuming.

The best thing about these apartments is that you will at least meet several other residents that are in the "same boat with/as you"...and you can all live with each other when you all go to MOVE SOMEWERE ELSE!!! I've been at the U of A three semesters and I have NEVER KNOWN ANYONE who was foolish enough to "renew" their lease...most former residents can't move away fast enough...

I've actually been living here in a single apartment and I like it just fine. I have a parking spot in the garage next door which is NOT one mile away. It's overpriced and it can be annoying in the beginning of the semester with the firealarm, but overall it's fine. If you don't have a car in Tucson while you're going to the University this is a good spot.
