LaReserve used to be a beautiful green oasis in a desert landscape, but no more. Residents here loved the beautiful green parks, the lush palo verdes and mesquite trees and the tranquil setting. But it's all gone now.
Two years ago, the owners of LaReserve Villas decided to go condo. They began to upgrade a section of the complex and put those units up for sale. They didn't sell. After 2006, the property went through a change of ownership every 90 days, each owner worse than the next, as housing sales continued to deteriorate. The lovely management team in the front office resigned, all of them, in disgust, at the last change.
About 3 months ago, a slumlord bought the property and immediately set about treating my neighbors like pond scum. One of my neighbors, a teaching assistant from the university, knocked on our door the other day to let us know that she was moving-she has completely had it up to there. There are "moving sale" signs all over my neighborhood as people have thrown up their hands in disgust at these slumlords.
They also began to rip out all of the landscaping and replace it with rocks. The butterfly bushes and the beautiful desert specimen plantings are all gone-and replaced with rocks. It's awful.
I will not be renewing my lease. I have lived here happily for a long time, but "happily" is over in this neighborhood.
