Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008

My wife and I have lived in La Reserve for over a year. We moved in the beginning of 2007. We were happy at first but like many others, we are not happy with the management. Every time we go in the office, there is someone else in charge. They NEVER return phone calls. I have to go to the office to talk to the manager. When we turn on the air conditioner, it blows out cigarette smelling air. We called them in the beginning of May and they finally came to our apartment, and said all it smelled like was stale air. They said they would put in a new air filter. Well, that didn't work, so they admitted that all they did was clean our filter, so then they did put in a new one, and that still didn't work. Then they said they would clean out the air duct, which they haven't done and that was 3 weeks ago. They also said if nothing else worked, then they would do an ozone treatment. Well, the manager went back on that and decided he didn't think he needed to do that because he didn't think it smelled like smoke. They just suggested putting an air freshener for a car where the air filter is. So we have no idea if we are getting smoke from some other apartment, or if it's just odor from the last resident. We were told they might be able to move us to another unit, but WE would have to pay $200 for the move, when it's not even our fault.
One of our neighbors had worms in their apartment, and they tried treating it. It didn't work, so they were moved to another apartment that had all the upgrades, and they were forced to pay for the upgraded apartment.
The only reason we renewed our lease was because we were having a baby and couldn't make the move. We are looking for a house to rent and are willing to have to pay to break our lease. We will NOT be renewing it again.
