still needs to be improved

I lived at Lakeside Village (now Lakeside Casitas) for several years.

Pros: the washer and dryer in the apartment was good to have; the dishwasher was good to have when it worked better; the grounds were nice; and the two bathrooms are always better than one.

Cons: the appliances were increasingly antiquated, and the dishwasher simply did not work as well as years passed. Noise from military aircraft sometimes rattled the frame of the apartment. The air conditioner was old and cost too much to operate. Ants and roaches were problems. (I'm in an older part of town now, and haven't yet had a single ant or roach at the new place.) The apartment seems to have not been well-insulated. The trash dumpster was far across the parking lot-- and there was a completed dumpster enclosure very close to us, but would not put a dumpster in there, almost as if the owners were teasing us.

Rent increases: The rent underwent steep increases the last two years I was there. The new owners also added a water bill that went to them, instead of the city, so I considered it to be another rent increase. My last 6 months turned into a financial nightmare. Numerous other tenants in my section of the complex had the same problem; about half left by the time I had moved.

"Fitness center": Maybe it is completed now; however, for months before I left, they were advertising a fitness center as completed, when it was still under construction. Two months after I left, it was still under construction, and apparently nowhere close to being done.

There are some good things about Lakeside Casitas; however, I would advise prospective tenants that there are better deals to be had in Tucson.

Well, I -did- put in work orders over the dishwasher DUH and a lot of us put in complaints about the bugs DUH and it should have been crystal clear to management that there was an empty dumpster enclosure that they'd failed to fill with a dumpster so we wouldn't have to walk to the far side of the complex (oh wait you didn't really address that) and I don't know if you noticed but large sections of Tucson are flown over by military planes, and in fact I now live in one of those areas... Kind of hard to get away from here DUH. (Really, was your use of DUH warranted?) I saw the place as managed by Schomac, Nicolosi & Fitch, and MEB, and in fact left after the renovations you mentioned were completed. There were things that were nor addressed by the renovations, and I saw that when people moved out, they were still unaddressed. Several friends said that the place, while having points in it's favor, was not worth nearly $1000/month, and one said that the appliances were the best the 1970s could offer. Where I live now is nicer, brighter, quieter (that's with the military jets overhead), at least as spacious, and I'm paying almost $300 less per month for rent and utilities. I am glad if you are happy where you're at, but I stand by my review. It's interesting that I posted a review, the first on this place in several months, and suddenly a bunch of favorable reviews popped up.

Its an older apartment structure but when you come in as a new tendent they did update a lot of things inside the apartments its self. Which includes taking out the old fireplace that was put in a weird location in the apartments, new carpet, new tile, new stove, new sinks and toilets, the painted all the doors and closets white to make it brighter and they added sky lights & new lighting in the kitchen. Maybe since you lived there WAY before the new management came into play, your apartment was overlooked for renovations. Cause I did hear from many tendents that have been there for quite a while (more then just five years), that they were on a list and did finally get the updates done to their apartment. Now with your "Cons": If your dishwasher didn't work maybe you should have put in a work order... that's why you pay the rent to have maintenance come and fix anything that you have problems with DUH! And we do have a very wonderful maintence team that does get stuff done in a fashionable timing. As for the military aircrafts overhead... which never shaked our apartment frame but whatever, don't live so dang close to an airforce base DUH #2! If you had ants and roaches ummm maybe contact the apartment office so they can have someone come out and spray. They do offer that service if you ever did call and maybe asked. Rent increases but that happens in every apartment, if you don't want that then maybe owning instead of renting is more a thing you should look into. Yeah they are expensive but think about the bonus pieces you normally don't get in apartments... no neighbors above or below, just the living room/dinning room walls do you share with your neighbors, one covered parking spot that is actually pretty close to your apartment, gated after 5:00pm until 6:00am daily, security that does patrol and you do see quite often around the grounds, and office hours that aren't bankers hours and open every day except on holidays of course. So in the good sense you totally get what you pay for :o) I love these apartments and reccommend them to everyone if you can afford them of course!
