I have had a great stay while at the Los Portales Apartments. I had lived in this beautiful community for over two years and had never experienced any of these negs reported here. Every time I have had a concern or a problem, the staff was very helpful in solving my concerns. The staff has gone out of their way to accommodate my personal needs. When I moved in, my apartment was clean with new carpet, fresh paint, new fridge, and new blinds.
The rent I payed was very reasonable and I had great relationships with my neighbors. My kids played with the neighbor's kids and everybody around me was respectful and courteous. This was not a ghetto, I would never subject myself to that type of environment. My family had a very peaceful stay with no troubles.
I would stay at the Los Portales Apartments again if I was still in the Tucson area!

Manager's Response |

| Dear mlsdouble01, I am the Community Manager of Los Portales and if you do have a crack in your refrigerator, multi-colored blinds and stained carpet I would like to opportunity to change these items out or at least address them with you in person or by phone. I may be reached at 296-7368. I can only change what I am aware of and would like the opportunity to make a difference for you. As for the other negative postings by someone who chooses to be anonymous I believe these are postings from a recent employee who is disgruntled as some of the items mentioned are those that only a employee would know. Hopefully this person or persons will get tired of slandering Los Portales and find someone else to torment. As always I invite all to call us or visit our community. Our pools are not green and we do care about our residents dispite the postings coming from someone who will not reveal themselves and choose to remain anonymous. Each employee that works here has a criminal background and credit check performed. Do not fall for this persons negativity. Thank you, Judy Christensen Community Manager | |

It's suspected that the new manager posted this "great place" comment. No "real" resident would ever post a good review of this place!
Also, the "new manager" is as bad if not worse than the previous. The new manager has been overheard makingd discriminatory and derogatory comments about tenants and their children. Maintenance is down to two people (they just fired the best worker they've ever had). The newest member of the maintenance team, who came with the manager, is not allowed in my house! I ran a background on him, I don't care if his violations are all traffic. He had over 16 Failure to Appears. That tells me he has a blatant disregard for the law. Given the history of this place, you can understand the concern.
The apartments leak. Management paid over $4000 to trim the palm trees, but won't spend the money to seal the stucco, which would stop the windows from leaking. Many of the upstairs units in the complex have roof/ceiling leaks anbd in some cases the ceilings are falling into the apartments. Freaking ridiculous.
I am sooooo fed up with living here that when my lease is up....I'm done. There are far nicer, cheaper and better places to live in Tucson than in this hell hole!!

I think this place is trash along with the new manager. I can't believe she hired a guy with 16 failure to appears. Is he going to steal from people too? Just like the last 2 guys that were hired when the last manager was here. No wonder to good decent people that worked here quit. I can't believe they fired one of them too. The playground hasn't been fixed since December of 2007. The slide is missing and the wood is so dry that kids would get splinters. The pools are always green. People from other neighborhoods come here to swim so no wonder the pool is nasty. People come through here with their stereos blasting in the middle of the night. The windows are so thin that the hot and cold air along with the rain comes right through them. We had roaches the same day we moved in coming up through our drain pipes. This place is terrible. DON'T MOVE TO LOS PORTALES. That is of course unless you want roaches, a sickness from the pools, leaky roofs, a horrible manager who cares nothing about anyone but herself, things stolen from you from a new maintenace guy etc. The list goes on.
