I have been living at North Hill Park for the better part of two years, and I have enjoyed everything that this apartment complex has offered.
In addition to being located in a quiet area of Tucson, North Hill Park offers a quick drive to just about anything and everything. For shopping, you'll find a Trader Joe's, brand new Circuit City/Home Depot/PetsMart, Lowes, Target, Blockbuster, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Pier One, Cost Plus, Sam's Club, JCPenny Home Store, and Fry's grocery store all within only a couple of miles. For dining, you'll find a number of locally owned restaurants such as Zona 78 and the Arizona Ale House, and in addition you'll find a Chipotle Mexican Grille, P.F. Chang's, Taco Bell, Chili's, Applebee's, Jack-in-the-Box, McDonald's, Long John Silver's, Baskin Robbins/Dunkin' Doughnuts, Krispy Kreme, Arby's, etc.
Also, the office staff and maintenance staff are by far the best in all of Tucson. Each group works with the other to make sure that your experience here is a wonderful one, and you'll often find that you wait no more than 24 hours for a resolution to any maintenance issues that you may experience while living here.
If you're interested in a unit here, I have a few suggestions that should help you to find a perfect a perfect match:
* If dealing with two cars, you'll want to find a unit in the northern most section of this complex, as there is ample, uncovered parking in this area for your roommates and friends to use. * If dealing with one car, you'll more than likely want a unit in the southern most section of this complex, as you'll be closer to the best laundry facility (there are two from which to choose), the fitness center, and the front office (your mailbox will be here). * If considering a unit in the northern most section of this complex, try to get one as close as possible to the road that splits the complex in two. The reason for this is that there is a farm located just north of the northern most units, and the smell from the farm usually carries down to the first few units on the very northern tip of the complex. * Choose a unit with a sliding door that faces north, south, or east. All units with west-facing sliding doors will usually end up with higher electric bills during summer months. While it is nice having the additional daylight late into the evening, you will find yourself paying more to cool your apartment as well as investing in a nice shade to assist in blocking some of the sunlight. * Since there are no W/D hookups within the apartments, you may wish to find a unit closest to one of the two laundry facilities. This will make it easier on you when carrying large loads, as well as when determining whether there are any dryers available. * The laundry facilities can become quite busy during the weekends, especially since each load only cost $0.75 to wash and $0.75 to dry. In addition, you will often find a bottleneck due to the fact that the dryers take around 45 minutes to complete a cycle, while the washers only take around 25 minutes to complete a cycle.
Overall, North Hill Park is one of the best places to live in Tucson given its price, which also includes water and expanded Cox cable.
Do some research on ApartmentRatings.com and you will see that North Hill Park has one of the best ratings for complexes in Tucson, especially in an area that is only about 10 minutes away from the U of A campus.
I hope this review helps you in choosing North Hill Park as your new home in Tucson. :-)
