Yo!

Believe everything negative you read

Everything negative that is written here is right on. Please read "Children of the Soggy Corn" (11/2005) review before considering moving here. I wish I had. I lived here for 1 year and it was the worst apt. experience I've ever had. Not only is it a noisy, busy monstrosity of a complex, (2 weeks after we moved in a DROP OFF DUMPSTER was unloaded right out front of our place and week after week pine tree (yes! pine tree) limbs/clippings were dumped into it (via a front loader!) to overflow and possibly get picked up occasionally. For entertainment, I once watched 3 mexican landscapers try to haul the thing away by hooking it up to the back of their small pickup. This was the only comedy provided by this place. Two weeks after we moved in, it changed to the new management/aka "Park Place." Renaming a place to a so-called ritzy name does not do a single thing substantial, especially when you institute an inept management, one of whom is approximately 18 years old who mistook me for an (apparently) impatient resident who had been waiting on repairs and accused me in my face of the same. When I in no uncertain terms informed him he must have mistaken me for someone else, they (finally) placed my work order into the queue. It was a very rude and totally inappropriate way to treat me. He also tried to pull an illegal maneuver, by placing a threatening letter on my door to say that I had only 1 week to pay an 'overdue' water bill, which actually wasn't overdue as their charges are 1 month behind on the water bill and I had asked everytime I paid my rent whether I owed anything on the water. (Water and garbage are separate charges on top of your rent...be warned!!) They say that you are paying only for your own, but don't count on it at these exorbitant charges and due to the fact they must water this place from morning til night, every day of the year, at least 6 times a day. This should be flagged by the water conservation people. Furthermore, if their 'well' breaks down and they switch over to water from the City of Tucson, your water bill will double. In addition, all this water contributes to a roach/bug problem. We are extremely clean people and lived on the 2nd floor. Due to that fact only, after 2 weeks the (only) bugs I saw after the initial roaches were water bugs...There are so many problems, lack of space will probably prevent my listing them, but here's a partial list:
1. The vent over the stove is not hooked up (there is not even a place for it to be hooked up)..
2. None of the doors (cabinets/slider doors, etc.) ever closed properly (either all the way or without slamming (and I am not a typical door slammer).
3. The oven/ then the stove/ quit working continually until I hit the fuse box switch (sometimes 10-15 times during one attempt at cooking a meal). [Why bother calling mgmt about this' After first moving in and informing them that the ac thermostat was not working properly, they informed me that it was due to an inadquate placement in the hall and had me sign a paper stating it had 'been fixed.']
4. The irrigation squirts over every sidewalk around, and they won't bother to fix the placement. Maybe they'll consider it after one of the many old people who live there slips and gets seriously hurt and SUES'''
5. The water was turned off no less than 6 times the last month we lived there, sometimes WITHOUT the requisite 24 hr. notice to tenants.
6. Several of the electric outlets would not work.
7. The carpeting and vinyl are so cheap they are extremely difficult to keep clean.
8. The new mgmt is allowing young boom box type people to move in who love to drive 95 mph through the complex at all hours of the day/night. If you enjoy this type of 'music' and being subjected to it (and the speeding cars), you'll love this place.
9. Parking is a nightmare. Due to their ineptness, they have resorted to using 'parking decals,' an indignity I had not had to suffer since quitting my government job several years ago.
10. The landscapers take at least 2 days to mow/blow the area near your building. They will even (although you may not want this feature) attempt to blow the dust/dirt off your car, leaving scratches and doing who knows how much damage to your car's paint job.
11. The garbage collectors are on the job at 4:30 most days of the week, making all kinds of racket and waking you better than any alarm you may have. Hopefully, you won't be sick and need to actually sleep past that hour or have a night job and need to sleep in the daytime, as the noise just gets worse with the other delivery trucks that come throughout the day.
12. Management is totally unresponsive after you sign your lease. They don't even want to give receipts for the rent money. Once I placed my rent check through the door and called later to make sure it had been received. The answer was, "if you put it through the door, we got it." They wouldn't even check while I waited to see whether it was received...I had never lived at an apt. that wouldn't even extend the courtesy of double checking to make sure it was indeed there.
13. Last but not least, you can try to reach mgmt (as I did) many different times one afternoon. If you try to speak with Darlene (Manager), you may receive the answer (as I did) that she was on a conference call all afternoon [yikes!!! this woman is busier than the U.S. President, if this was the case] or (in another instance) that they were all at a training conference for the rest of the weekend (this call was placed on a Thurs. afternoon, which would have made the conference one of the longest in history for the least amount of results ever!!!!!).

I literally counted the days until I could leave and am happy as a lark at a much smaller complex, enjoying (again) the best that apartments have to offer. If you are looking for that, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE
