I have lived in Pinnacle Heights for about a year and a half. I am in my mid-twenties and married. We are both well-educated and reasonable people. I say that so gain some sort of credibility. I was reading these reviews and wondering what kind of people write them. People like me or people who are a little unstable'' There is a unit in my building that has been open for several weeks and I began to wonder if it had anything to do with the looney reviews on this site. And then I started to get a little concerned -- I happen to really like this complex and the people who live around me. It's just not your run-of-the-mill apartment complex. I don't really want the complex to lower their standards and let shady people move in. Now, that might rub you the wrong way, but please take it with a grain of salt.

Here's what the complex is really like:
Beautiful. Really, really beautiful. I have a small dog, and walking him in the morning is so nice. The complex is really quiet and somewhat secluded because it's basically on the side of a mountain and looks down into Sabino Canyon. The views are incredible. (granted, you pay for them, but that's another story)

It seems like most of the people who live here are decently well-off. Lots of nice cars in the parking spaces and what not. But people are friendly; it has never struck me as snobby. It seems like there are a lot of folks who work for Raytheon, there are a few older military, people in the medical field and I've met some who are affiliated with some of the country clubs up here. In the winter there are usually a good number of snow birds.

There is zero crime that I am aware of. That is so nice -- the last complex I lived in had a lot of families and there was petty crime, especially to cars. I did notice a big truck that kept double parking in front of the garages, but haven't seen that in a while. There is almost never noise outside, it's even rare to hear dogs barking. There are quite a few small dogs here, but it's not been a problem. There are areas set aside for dogs and doggie bags are always available outside.

The grounds crew is really good about keeping everything looking beautiful. There are two pools here. I live by the small one, and it's always quiet. I go to the big one because it is really pretty and feels luxurious. There is a waterfall that is nice to layout near. I had a friend come to visit from back home and it was so fun to take her out there because I felt like we were at a resort pool. I know that sounds corny, but I am from a part of the country where no one even tries to attempt resort-style anything. There is also a cabana and a spa that gets used a lot, but I've never used it.

The work out room is the nicest that we could find when we were apartment hunting. It's big and nicely equipped. We didn't even join a gym because our workout room has the cardio equipment and weights that we needed.

My apartment is big and I love the Lantana layout. My kitchen feels like a real kitchen, not an apartment kitchen. I love having a fireplace, crown-moulding and an ice-maker. There are those little things that make it feel like a home. I like how you can have them paint accent walls too. I would rather be in a house than an apartment but the housing prices were so much higher in AZ than the midwest where I'm from that buying isn't an option for us right now. The size and layout of my Lantana at least is nice --- it doesn't feel like a typical apartment at all, which is really important to me.

The permanent staff in the office is really wonderful. The manager is so friendly and approachable and Bea is great too. They tend to have temps come through the office pretty regularly and that can be good or not good just depending on who you encounter. I'm a little on the snobby side, and I expect good service, especially when I feel I am paying a premium. Sometimes with the temps, I am not really impressed with their professionalism.

The issue of scorpions -- it's interesting that the people who post here say they've either had none or millions. My apartment is upstairs and near grass and a pool. Both the grass and pool attract scorpions because of the water. I have had issues with them. None in the winter, ever but in late spring and especially the summer it was an issue. I'm not going to lie, it wasn't fun. I was lucky, in that the scorpions were always in my kitchen, and never in my bedroom. I had maybe 10-15 and at the worst point I was finding them about once every week or week and a half. We were never stung (thank goodness) but my dog was. We had pest control come out and spray quite a few times but it didn't help at all. Finally, around late August we had the entire building sprayed at once (instead of individual apartments who requested it). I have not seen a scorpion since. I am holding my breath ... I really hope this summer isn't as bad. I know they were having issues in many of the buildings and were treating the whole complex pretty aggressively. We'll see.

As far as noise, I can hear my neighbors, I think it just depends on who your neighbors are. I have neighbors on one side that I have never heard and my neighbors on the other side I hear all the time. They are just that type--the wife yells instead of speaking. Luckily, they travel most of the year.

That ended up being really long, but I think it was a little overdue. I wanted to give my perspective, which is both realistic and truthful. This is a really upscale complex that I for one love and feel very safe in.

Now this is a post that I feel is honest and accurate. I must live near this person because I also live by grass and the small pool. I am from the midwest also and I don't think many people from this area realize how good they have it. I often have family or friends come to visit and they are awestuck when they see the beauty of where we live and love to come and visit. I would agree completely with this post. Apartment living will always have it's positive and negatives, but all in all this is a great community to live in.

This is reassuring to read. We are really keen on these apartments, the only thing that is really bothering me is the scorpions as we have two small dogs. I love them to bits, so dont want them to get hurt. If the staff are honest with us about the problem, and action is taken about it, then I think its worth the gamble. For once i'd just like a nicer place to live than where we are stuck now. I hate that people who have always had it good complain at the saddest things like parking... There are ways of dealing with that yourself!

First of all, great honest review. Second, when dealing with scorpions, having a cat is the best thing, but dogs can be good too. This is because they are really good at spotting them, thus giving you warning. They also somehow intuitively know to pin the tail down so it can't sting them. Also, even if the scorpion stings them (or tries to) it is difficult to get the stinger through all that fur and thick skin. That being said, it is possible for them to get stung, I highly recommend doing some research on the internet about scorpions so you know what the symptoms are if you or your pet get stung. In most cases, it will hurt, but not really do anything to either of you. Knowledge is power! I wouldn't worry about your dogs, they will be fine, there are quite a few people in this complex with pets.

My sister and I lived in this community when it was first built (1995-1997)and we were the first residents in our apartment. They were still in construction when we moved in. I have to say the property was then and probably still is gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. The floorplan we had was beautiful and convenient! We did have a view of the Tucson Valley from our apt, it was truly beautiful and QUIET!!!!!!!!!! With that said I would never rent anything that MG Properties manages!!! However, this is a one in a million properties to rent at, how "MG" ever got a hold of this perfect jem of a property.....I'll never know!
