the good, the bad, and the ugly

Well, let me start with the good... Promontory had nice grounds for being in the desert and a fabulous location on Stone and River. Unfortunately my husband and I felt cheated living here and didn't really care for our experiences. So here's the bad and the ugly:
The units are not energy efficient by any means.
There is no insulation in the ceilings between apartments and you can hear everything. In other words, get an apartment on the top floor.
The communication between office personnel is terrible as far as we could tell and not to mention the communication between the office and maintenence crew. Our dishwasher was broken when we moved in and it took them a month to get a new one in. Then it sat in storage because they had lost the purchase order that told them which apartment it was for. I had only called them 3 times to ask how it was coming along. Then, they installed the new one and left the old one RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR APT for 5 days! I could not get them to come and remove it.
Another time we had a pipe leak in the wall and got our carpeting all wet. You would think they would be hasty in coming over, but no. They never came to patch up the two holes in the wall even after we called many times. When they finally came about 3 weeks later they only patched up one and got sheetrock and paint all over our books and other things. This was when we were out of town for a couple of weeks and they left the light on in the bedroom where they were working. We asked if they would pay some money towards our electric bill but they refused. It was quite frustrating!
Another issue that we had was the attitude of the office personnel. No matter what happened, they would never admit to anything being their fault and somehow always tried to blame us. Hmmmm. Our friends live here too and they have the same problems. Our opinion is you should be around when they come to fix anything in your apartment.
Unfortunately there is a risk with living next to the Tucson Mall... car theft and break-ins. There was a series of Sunday nights where cars were broken into and ours was one of them. The window was busted and they had tried to hot-wire the car but we have a kill-switch installed so luckily it was still there when I woke up in the morning. Our neighbors weren't so lucky.
The reviewer who talked about the light on Stone and River was right - it is scary and you can easily get into an accident so be careful.
Those are the main things. Although we are frustrated with this place, there are some good things about it and we didn't completely hate it so give it a chance but be careful and don't be afraid to be assertive with the office.
