I stayed at the Promontory from 1999-2000. The management staff had some nice persons, but there seemed to be continual turnover. As for the apartments, they were decent sized. There were problems with the plumbing-- I had a frequent backed up bath tub and sink-- and response time was sometimes slow. The air conditioner also was busted twice as well--during my last month living there, they never came to fix it and it was the month of June where it was sometimes above 100 degrees at night!
The walls and ceilings are hardly noise resistant at all. Where I lived, a neighbor who lived above me had music on until the wee hours of the morning, and little was done from management to stop him.
The 24 hour coin up laundry could not be beat, and the fitness room was decent. There is also maid service available for a low weekly fee, if you wish.
The main warning I would give is the lease to lease arrangements of this complex. While they will be flexible for your first leasing arrangement, they were very inflexible when it came to renewal--you had to commit to eleven months. When I couldnt give such a commitment, suddenly my rent climbed up to almost $200 more a month.
Though I didnt know about it when I lived there, I learned later that there were security problems, including a stalker. But regardless, and this is true pretty much for any complex in the city of Tucson, this is a place where you want to keep your doors locked and valuables stored away and your car locked. Property crime is a problem.
Otherwise, very pretty apartments and great shops and restaurants nearby.
