Initially, Promontory was a really nice complex. I felt safe walking around and everything was quiet.

I recently moved out because I was relocating back to Texas for school. Honestly, it has gone down hill. There seems to be an increase in crime in the area. The gated enterence is a joke, you can hop the fence without any problems and people leave the gates open all the time. There have been a series of rapes, assaults, and things of that nature in recent history in the complex. The person who did it knew enough to realize the victoms left their door open.

Really, that has only been a recent thing. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, although they do change around a few times a year.

Bulleted explanation of ratings...

-Parking is alright. There really isn't a lot of lighting. It would also be nice if they gated the parking lot, somtimes it was sort of scary walking around there at night with how many random people were walking around in the lots. The lighting is iffy.

-Nouise. I only had one or two really noisy neighbors, overall it was very quiet and I was in the back. I was very impressed with how quiet it was considering how many UofA students were there. There was one building in particular that seemed to be a little more routy...the one to the right of building 10 when you are facing the shopping centers.

-Grounds. The grounds were beautiful! I was totally impressed by them. The maintenance staff is quite impressive.

-Safety. In the beginning, I felt safe for about a year or so. Towards the end when the crime spiked, I felt very scared ALL the time. The rape/home invasion scared the ---- out of me. Also, the balcolnies can be jumped. It was bothersome. The locks were alright, but you could jimmy them, especially on the balcolny.

-Construction-It was nice, but older. They tried to keep it up as much as possible, but honestly it needs a renovation. You could see where drywall was cut, in fact there was a sinking section in my ceiling due to a roof leak I had a while back. They fixed it as much as they could without a renovation. The appliances are old. Everything is old.

-Maintenance-Awesome and professional. They stink by the end of the day, which is good...it means they WORK HARD! Although I will say they could have better hours and not mow at 7am. A little warning on roof work would also be nice.

-Staff-Good. Really I had few complaints short of the move out. THAT was hell. I cleaned my apartment and they charged me 220.00 in fees. Some of them I agreed with, others, not so much. I lost a set of keys and forgot to give them my permit, that is about all I agreed with. Be careful with the move out.

-Overall-Compared to MANY apartments in the area, this is the best. Move out and crime were my only complaints really. Everything else was to be expected with an aging complex. They do maintain everything pretty well though all things considering.
