Lots of Natural Light!

I'm really grateful these apts exist; they permit renovations which allows me to truly make this an expressive and personal home. The apartments facing North have such gorgeous views; the patios extend the width of your whole apartment with sliding glass doors in the living room and bedroom(s). It's like having a whole wall of floor-to-ceiling windows; it's perfect if you love lots of natural light!

Cons are that the building does seem dated; but it's definitely a loved building. Lots of people stay here for years and years. Also amenities are lacking: no dishwasher, no garbage disposal (mgmnt has been taking them out of apts because of maintenance issues) and no washer/dryer connections. If this place had those I'd be over the moon.

Also parking is so-so. There's gated parking but it's limited and at extra cost. Also, you only receive one space, even if you're renting a two-bedroom. There's parking out front but you need a city permit (it's only a couple dollars).

The location is prime: you can walk to the YMCA's fitness center or Gold's Gym, public library, Rialto, Fox, all the shops and eateries on Congress and Broadway.

Management is responsive and personable, as is maintenance.

These apartments are usually full, and maybe they're not for everyone. If you want unique apartment floorplans (with permission to customize), downtown access, diverse resident community -- Redondo Towers may be what you're looking for.

FOLLOW-UP (June 2008):

I wrote the above more than a year ago and still stand by everything I've said. All the information remains accurate. This is a wonderful apartment community; the apartments are very large and full of natural light and the management and maintenance team is amazing. Highly recommend.
