I lived here for exactly 9 months. I had two pages worth of problems. Only item on the pages of problems ever got fixed during my time there. I had severe water damage to my apartment and lost a great deal of personal property which was not recoverable and I never recieved any compensation for. The office constantly "lost" my rent check and my water check and I was deducted a huge amount of money upon leaving for small infractions. I left his place better than we I showed up!

Part of apartment living is to buy your own renters' insurance (I believe Rio Cancion mgmt told me it was a requirement of living here when I moved in, but I would've gotten it, anyway). The way it works is that the complex has no liability for your stuff that gets ruined b/c of water damage or whatever else. I've known more than a few people who ended up needing to cash in on their renters' policies b/c someone burned the building down or whatever (not at Rio Cancion, obviously). Don't ever be without renter's insurance!! It costs like $200 a year. Not to have it is very stupid, as is expecting the complex to compensate you for your losses. It was a costly lesson for you, and I hope it won't happen to you again.
