So I moved back to Tucson in Dec. from Florida. After a horrible experience with another complex closer to campus, my mother and I went for a tour at Sahara. The manager of the complex, Ted, gave us a very professional and thorough tour and after seeing the theater (with sourround sound, big screen projecter and NFL Sunday ticket), me and my mother were hooked.
The complex is all centered around a courtyard area which includes a pool, jacuzzi and numerous little umbrella-ed tables (which are great to use for an impromptu pick-nic). The theater is open 24/7 (along with the wookout room, lounge and study/computer room) so any night you can pretty much go in and pop in a DVD to watch with friends.
The rooms are fiarly well sized for a studio and include full size bathrooms and kitchens. They also come furnished as well, and rent includes all the utilities, making the price seem like quite a bargain. With two DSL ports as well as two cable ports, even rooms that people share are taken care of.
What really has impressed me about Sahara is the aspect of safety and security and what a high premium the staff puts on it. There are somewhere around 80 security cameras around the facility and the gate around the perimeter is alarmed. To go along with that, the community itself is a shining example of peace and quite. Its almost like a dorm/apartment hybrid.
Overall, I would have to say Sahara is the kind of place for someone who is looking for a fun, student community that offers a good amount of stuff to do. Its been
